Wyethia helenioides

666.44.07 Wyethia helenioides, Case
Girl, 1, eating problems.
A one year old girl is easily upset, especially with strangers. She has problems eating, does not eat enough and her weight is very low. She has an aversion to bread, warm food and fruit. She likes to have porridge in a bottle but not to be fed with a spoon. She eats like a baby. It looks as if she cannot digest the food.
Her pregnancy was good although her mother was nauseous in the beginning for a while. She was unplanned, the parents wanted to have a child but not at that time. The mother kept on going with her own life for a long time during pregnancy and waited long before starting to buy things for her child. She felt like in a black cloud instead of a pink cloud. The child stayed small a long time during pregnancy. Labour was reasonable without big problems. The contractions lasted a while and the mother was afraid of the pain, fearing that she couldn’t handle the labour and would scream so that others would think that she was crazy. Breast feeding was okay.
The first year the child was ill quite often with coryza, cough, vomiting her food and respiration problems. She was once diagnosed with respiratory virus. Her development was alright. She has problems to play on her own and likes to be diverted. She is timid and has a fear of strangers and loud noises. She likes to have company of her mother and starts weeping when her mother leaves. She does not like it when her mother gives attention to others like being on the phone or pushing the baby car of another child. She can be very demanding and screaming towards her mother. Others say she is spoiled. She has a strong will, her no is no. She starts weeping when other children weep. She is the only child and has good contact with the parents.
After Calcium carbonicum MK she had a fever of 39° for three days. She had a runny nose, her ears were painful and red, red eyes and she was very hot.
Weather: < draughts.
Time: < 11 am, < three till 5 am.
Aversion: bread, milk, eggs, warm food, sour.
Sleep: in knee elbow position; she waggles to fall asleep.

Analysis
The reaction to the first remedy gave a big clue. The fever indicates one of the Asteraceae. When we then look at her digestive problems, we see that she cannot digest bread and warm food. This symptom is quite strong in Wyethia. It is quite common in all Asteraceae, where we find an aggravation from grasses and wheat.

Follow up
After Wyethia MK she starts feeling better. The first week she could play more, eat more and was more independent. The second week she had inflamed eyes and diarrhoea for five days and started getting teeth. The third week she was eating less; she had diarrhoea but played more. The fourth week she started eating better and was talking more. She even started to eat bread and asked for it. She was very hungry and asked for “food, food”. Her sleep is better. But she still needs quite a lot of attention. She is more independent and cheerful. She is quite active. She has gained weight.
After three more repetitions of the remedy she is doing much better. Her eating is better, she likes bread, warm food. She eats the same as her parents. She very much likes soup, desserts and sweets. She can do without her mother. She does not need breast feeding anymore and she does not need feeding anymore at the 11 pm. The parents are very content.
