Ribes nigrum
English: black current bush.
Dutch: zwarte bes (Ribes rubrum: aalbes, Ribes uva-crispa: kruisbes).
This remedy is not known in homeopathy but used in gemmotherapy for allergic conditions. It seems to be active on the adrenal cortex (allergies, hypotension). The remedy also contains anthocyanes increasing the permeability and resistance of capillaries and thereby improving microcirculation. Indication: heavy legs. Ribes nigrum also stimulates the immune system (especially in elderly) and is indicated in post infectious tiredness.
The plant contains much vit. C, vit. B1, vit. B2, vit. P, Anthocyanes and Gamma linolenic acid. The plant is diuretic.
