6.2 Neodymium metallicum case
Width 8, Depth 6, Cure 8, Duration 7

A man of 55 years of age has headaches. It feels like a brick pressing on his head, as if his head is too small to contain his brains. With it, he cannot think anymore, feeling chaotic in his head.
He has pain in his right side and the liver region. It feels like a balloon under pressure, better from bending, worse from stretching. Sometimes it feels like a glowing hot iron. His abdomen is painful, bursting and bloated, worse from pressure, eating and at 7 pm. His stomach is burning in the night, worse lying on his right side, and better lying on his left side.

Some years ago he had a nervous breakdown. It started suddenly at 5 pm he couldn't eat and was sighing, at 6 he was weeping and his arms were shaking, in the evening he was lying on his knees with the feeling ā€œI'll never be well againā€. For 2 weeks he could not sleep. It was a shock, an emotional blow. It was completely unlike how he normally is, capable and efficient.

He’s a real entrepreneur. With his 2 brothers, he took over his father's farm. But that didn't work out because his eldest brother was too indecisive. He stepped out of the farm and started another business with his other brother. That didn't work out, so he branched out on his own. He has started several businesses and made them successful. He sold all but one of them after his nervous breakdown, because it was too much work. But he didn't care, saying ā€œI can start new companies if neededā€.
He foresees how the market will develop. He plans years ahead, anticipating laws and economic developments. So he’s always ahead of the field. He also invents machines for his company. He thinks them out in his mind and then gets them built.
He’s very efficient, dynamic and fast: he does the work of three people.
He prefers to do everything by himself, which he can do, even being a truck driver. He has all the contracts and agreements in his head, which can be difficult for his bookkeeper. He thinks fast and talks like a machine gun when talking about his company.
His drive is not the money, but to do something perfectly. He enjoys working and works constantly, from 7 a.m. till 10 pm, also on Saturdays. His work is his life. He felt terrible when he couldn't work, as if his life had stopped. He can’t stand failing, he has to prove he can do it.
He’s a good negotiator. He’s not a real manager, although he has about 5 people working for him.
He takes care of his parents and all his brothers and sisters.

He was weeping during the consultation and felt ashamed about it.
He didn't want to be recorded on video, but agreed to it, to help other patients.
Dream: quarreling with people; anxious, waking in sweat.
He’s very tense. He wrings his hands and sighs frequently.

He’s big, tall and stout and balding.
His lungs feel as if filled with a ball of tar from smoking.
Skin rough. Cold back. His intestines work fast.
Throat, chest and sternum felt as if in a vice.
Thyroid under-working, but he refuses to take thyroid hormones.
Weather: chilly, cold feet << after breakdown.
Sweat: copious << night.
Time: < 5 pm.
Desire: tobacco and sweets
Aversion: Brussels sprouts
Food: < Brussels sprouts, < pork. Analysis
He’s the manager of a big company, indicating Gold series but he’s not a real manager, wanting to do everything on his own. This is more like Lanthanides. The Lanthanides also fit in with many other aspects. He wants to be his own boss. He foresees many developments and he’s an inventor. He has achieved a lot, especially looking at his background coming from a farm, without having had much education.
He’s a builder, so he’s on the left side of the periodic table, Stages 1 to 9. But he’s resolute, so it’s Stage 6 or later. The quality of "proving" is typical of Stage 6, leading to Neodymium.
This Stage has to be differentiated from Stage 8. Stage 8 works very hard as he is. But that Stage feels under pressure, whereas this patient enjoys his work.

His constitution has qualities of Graphites, just like his weeping on telling his symptoms. Graphites helped him partially, but the main complaints weren’t changed.

Follow up
After Neodymium metallicum MK he calmed down. His complaints disappeared. He was clearer in his head, he could think again. He was more cheerful, with everyone laughing around him. After 3 repetitions he felt so good he stopped the treatment.
4 years later he’s still doing well.

After a previous prescription of Mercurius vivus MK, the complaints diminished gradually within a week, then he felt well for a week, then gradually things came back. He got a feeling of vertigo, a kind of fainting, worse from rising from a chair and worse from the pressure in his head. After a repetition of Mercurius he felt emotionally better and more energetic. But the headache kept coming back. After another repetition of Mercurius he felt reasonable. The headaches keep coming and going. He’s tired and lacking motivated.

After Graphites (easy weeping, causeless weeping), he felt less heavy, less despondent and the pain in his liver had gone.

A dose of Mercurius iodatus flavus hardly had effect.
