Myristicaceae
Botany:
Trees with bark exuding a reddish sap on damage. They contain etheral oils (aromatic terpenoids), tannins and indole alkaloids. Most characteristic is myristicin wich is an hallucinogenic phenolic compound. The fruits often are strikingly coloured are dispersed by birds and primates.
Myristica fragrans (provides the nutmeg, Nux moschata, Nux-m*) and Virola species that are the source of hallucinogenic stuff.
Remedies: Magnolia grandiflora, Magnolia glauca, Talauma mexicana.
The species proved and listed by Hahnemann under the name of „Magnolia grandiflora", was probably the closely related Talauma mexicana. It is not clear if the American provings and clinical reports are done with the same bias or that the right plants were used. So we will not go to deep in specific characteristics of the different remedies. The descriptions of literature are taken as published.
