Lac humanum, Lac felinum, Lac caninum, Lac equinum and Lac bovinum

Mother's milk, the best there is!
Although it’s not always clear in today’s world, there’s a great need for mother’s milk on this planet. It gives food, warmth and emotional support to the new-born. It is the first point of orientation in one’s life. But modern reality is different.
To start with humans: because of a sort of so-called status, or because mothers take up their job after giving birth to a child, kids are fed with bottle milk. Chemically it’s similar to breast milk, but it lacks the emotional quality, and probably a lot more. Perhaps that’s a reason for the large quantity of candies, chocolate, etc., which are eaten by children later on in life.
Compared to the human world, similar things happen in the animal kingdom: humans decide when it’s time for the young animal to become separated from the mother. Sometimes because it’s a custom to separate them at a certain age, sometimes because of ignorance, and also because of accidents or other trouble.
I would like to describe the remedy-picture of human mother’s milk, Lac humanum, which can be of use for the choice of a milk remedy in an animal. I will show you some cases in which the remedy has acted well, and try to give some handouts, how to recognize the remedy in animals.
Remedy picture of Lac Humanum.
The provings were done with 4 different Lac humanum:
a) - of one Dutch woman.
b) - of several Dutch women in a different stage of lactation. c) - of one Indian woman.
d) - of different Indian women.
Dreams
Total harmony. Paradise, unity with nature. Great harmony in nature, but I don’t quite make a part of it, I’m separated from that harmony because I’m a human being. I can think and observe, and that makes me different. Sensation of being an observer, and because of that, not really being part of the totality. Longing for deep contact, but I can’t make that contact. Lost paradise. The things I didn’t get in my childhood became fulfilled. Dreams of food and drinks. Dreams of sex. Dreams of groups of people, of community.
In the Indian proving: dreams of snakes, of having control over a snake.

CASES
Dennis the menace
A castrated male cat, 4 years old, white colour.
Symptoms in the anamnese:
- aggression • scratching, biting • he really attacks people.
- aggressive: - to visitors, esp. to those who are afraid of him.
- to the owner when he forbids things.
- he can attack right through the window. - when he gets certain food.
- at 8 days he was found without mother, between 8 dead kittens.
- nice to the owner, she is his "mother" • nice to 4 years old daughter.
- jealous to the baby • he awakens the owner at night, when he wants to be caressed.
- when "trampling for milk", he salivates • fear new things • fear mirror.
- likes to play with water • can't stand changes in the house • likes to hide himself.
- whining when he is left home alone • when alone: throws glasses out of the cabinet. • very jealous • plays with cardboard boxes • eats greedily • desire for meat, chips, salt.
First the cat received Stramonium, because the totality of the case resembles this remedy picture. After an aggravation the cat became much more at ease, but he had a relapse. Several other potencies of the same remedy followed, with the same reaction every time. When he received Lac felinum M at last, an immediate amelioration followed without aggravation.
Rakker
A black female cat, 6 months old with behaviour problems:
- she can scratch suddenly.
- she steals meat from the dinner-plate, when she is punished, but she just goes on stealing it
In the first weeks of her life, she was often lifted up, also when she was sleeping or nursing.
At 4 weeks the mother cat rejected the kittens.
- attention fixed on eating, especially meat • she craves cat-milk • she chews wallpaper.
- she loves to sit on the owner’s lap.
N.B.: The cat did a lot of "milk trampling" on (the breasts of) the owner: It was so much that the owner got an imaginary pregnancy!!
The cat was given Lac felinum M, and became much more balanced.
Two other cats were treated with Lac felinum, one with skin problems, the other with a chronic nasal discharge. Both had a history of a disturbed nursing period, one cat had the trouble since that time, the other lateron. Typical for all these cats is that there was some form of aggression in the animal, either in the sense of an attack without apparent reason or sometimes when the owner did things, which the cat didn’t like.
Lac felinum symptoms
- Desire for paper (playing and chewing on cardboard boxes, chewing on wallpaper). • Strong desire for (cat)milk.
- Strong desire for meat.
Remi
A 6 year old white dog, a castrated male with behaviour problems: • whining terribly: - doorbell.
- phone.
- in the car.
- when anything happens.
- quite jealous to the new friend of the owner.
The dog was found at the age of 6 weeks, and was brought to the home for lost animals. He had about 0 different owners, some of them maltreated him. This last owner has had the dog for 2 years now.
- in the beginning he used to bite people in their legs.
- when he is caressed: -very subdued.
- urinating.
- suddenly growling.
- he can bite: - when he gets a command.
- if someone is afraid of him.
- always wants the company of the owner • wants bodily contact • strong desire to be loved.
- lots of energy, but unable to play • Greatest attention: food!! • desire: everything, even red peppers
- he eats as much as possible • he has his own "teddy-bear"; he sucks on that bear, as if it's a nipple.
The dog was given Lac caninum C 200, and later Lac caninum M, which gave a wonderful amelioration.
Jacky
A Jack Russel Terrier, 3 years old, female, who got 2 puppies 2 weeks ago. One pup was very sweet, the other one whined now and then. Jacky suddenly attacked the pup, and almost killed the little one. That was yesterday, and since then the pup was crying all the time. First the bitch got Sepia C200, and the pup Aconite C200, without a good result.
The pup reacted better to Arnica C200: she became more at peace, but it was not a really good reaction. Then the bitch got Platina C200, which really calmed her, and the pup got Lac caninum M, because he now already had a disturbed nursing period. This time the expected "smashing homeopathic reaction" ensued! The pup relaxed totally and could drink again from the mother’s breast. Another nice indication for Lac caninum was found by a Danish colleague, who gave the remedy to a bitch, with an imaginary pregnancy, which is also, a sort of a disturbed nursing period! Imaginary pregnancy is a common disturbance in dogs. It is physiologic and a normal function in wild wolves.
Lac caninum symptoms
- Desire pepper.
- Delusion that he is looked down upon (and feels insulted). • Very hungry, can't eat enough to be satisfied.
Karin
A 0-year-old riding horse, a brown mare. The horse came for OCD (osteochondrosis disseccans). She was supposed to get a fowl, but she is in rage when she sees the stallion. Because of an external cause she was separated from her mother when she was 3 months old. She is not interested in other horses, when she is in the pasture she doesn't even look when another horse leaves the pasture.
Her hockjoint is slightly (dropsical) swollen. Further no physical symptoms.
The horse was given Lac equinum M. After one week the horse made contact with other horses and was grazing together with them in the pasture. The stallion can come near her now. She will need a second remedy in the future to solve other problems, as I expect that the Lac equinum will not be her one and only remedy.
Onyx
A three year old mare, a brown riding horse. Her mother died in an accident when she was 6 weeks old. She has a tendency to bite on things and to put everything in her mouth. Although she was given Lac equinum C 200 and M, she didn’t really react on it. Ignatia M and 0M gave a better reaction.

Gratia
A 2 year old riding horse, mare, brown. The horse is very afraid of people, the owner can hardly come close to her. The separation from her mother was rather violent, because the mother had an accident. Lac equinum M once a week made her more at ease, and the owner can come near her now.
Johanna
A cow, 2 years old, female. The farmer wants to sell her, because she is shrieking all day long since she is a calf. One dose of Lac bovinum stopped the shrieking the next day, and it never returned.
There are a lot of udder troubles in cows (mastitis), which are difficult to treat. One of the symptoms of Lac humanum is breast-problems. All milking cows are taken away from the mother-cow far too early, because we humans want to have the milk. The calf is fed from a bucket, separated from the mother. Probably all milking-cows need Lac bovinum!!
The expectation is, that the animals will need another remedy after they are ‘fulfilled’ with a Lac.
A Lac seems to have a different way of acting compared to the other remedies. It seems to nourish, it fulfils the lacks of childhood (as said in a proving).
Thoughts about Lacs
In the German literature there’s a lot of information about Lac humanum. Jürgen Becker can tell about it wonderfully.
- There is a tendency that Lac humanum is aggressive (children), which is also seen especially in cats
who need Lac felinum.
- When there is grief about the death of an animal, one could give the milk of the animal to the
human owner. So when someone is grieving about the death of his cat, one should give him Lac
felinum., etc.
- Breast problems, inflammation, cancer, not enough milk, and so on are said to be good indications
for Lacs.
- There seems to be a difference between Lac humanum femininum and Lac humanum masculinum. The difference is that the first milk is for a girl, and the second for a boy. There seem to be other symptoms in both, when one compares the provings of those two.
Differential Diagnosis
Arnica: aggressive horse, badly handled, horse-whisperer. Ignatia: grief, not as aggressive.
Natrium muriaticum & Sepia: desires salt, chocolate and menstrual disturbances. Stramonium: also aggressive.
Symptoms on which to choose a Lac for an animal
- Disturbed nursing period • Desire to suck on things. • Difficult to make real contact • Desire salt • Milk.
- Breast problems • Imaginary pregnancy • Aggression.
I do hope that this outline of my experience with the Lacs may help you to prescribe the remedy when needed, so that the animals may become happier, healthier and more balanced!
