Laurus nobilis
Remedy code: 3-622.54.10
A five-year-old boy with warts. Mainly on the hands and on the fingers, left on the little finger, right thumb, index finger, and middle finger, as well as on the feet and knees. They keep increasing, it started at 3 years old. Other children comment on it, he feels it should go away, it bothers him. After treatment with nitrogen, it came back harder, and after treatment with acidic drops: the skin around it disappeared, but the warts themselves did not. He is prone to colds, tubes have been placed in the eardrums due to his deafness, and he has often had ear infections, with discharge and pain, he quickly gets a fever and is very ill. He didn't hear anything for the first two years, then tubes were inserted. He has a delay in language and speech, the tongue was at the bottom of the mouth for the first two years. Last summer he had a discharge from the ear for weeks. He is very social, and sweet, likes to go to school, is very insecure, constantly seeks confirmation, he is shy and clings to one person. The other children of the family had a slow development, father was also slow with motor skills due to high muscle tension. At two years old, he went to the dermatologist for a dry spot on his hand. He sleeps well, when falling asleep he bangs his head against the wall and makes noises. He enjoyed his kindergarten years, but not so much in preschool. He had a phase of pushing or hitting, they walked away from him. At home, he plays a lot, of soccer with his brothers, after school, he plays with cars by himself first, then outside or a game with his mother (he prefers to do this all day), he wants to win. Playing alone helps him calm down. He always makes a lot of noise. He doesn't eat candy. Doesn't want to walk on grass or sand, doesn't want dirty hands, is very careful, afraid of jumping. He doesn't want to try new things, if he fails he stops and covers his face with his hands. During pregnancy, the mother was quite 'in shock', she tells, they had been trying for a long time to get pregnant again, and they didn't expect it anymore. In the beginning, it was very difficult, 'we were complete, and had a whole different plan already'. She struggled with it and had to get used to the idea. She could enjoy it intensely, also breast feeding again. She had a miscarriage before him and then had hyperventilation.
Analysis
From several assumptions and interpretations, a few medications were prescribed without the desired result (Thorium metallicum, in response he got severe impetigo, stiffer motor skills, often sticking out his tongue, Juglans regia, warts continued to increase, he became more withdrawn, started hiding his hands, Antimonium-muriaticum did nothing, Coriandrum sativum only increased salivation). Another approach was needed: thematic.
Carbon series: the pregnancy: shock, the whole family is focused on home and the immediate family. He 'lives in his own body'; at school, he is very timid, insecure, very wild, busy, and clumsy when playing, he has little contact with the outside world and even pays little attention to the outside world. Deafness reinforces this aspect. A lot in his world, in his play, not speaking, tongue out, poor motor skills: Carbon series.
Phase 5: he is very active and wants a lot, his mother talks about 'intense enjoyment', and wants to win at games, pushing and hitting.
Phase 4: he joined when the family was already 'complete' (versus ‘expansion’ of Phase 5)
Stage 10: Star, stable, in his body and development, sure about himself when ‘at home’, skin is ‘hardening’. Prescription Laurus nobilis MK.
Follow-up
After taking it, he had a cold for a week, had a runny nose for the entire following month, complained of stomach pain the first few days, and had different stools. The warts all started to shrink, soften, and become less visible from the first week. Occasionally one bleeds. After two months they are gone. The spots on his hand that had reappeared also disappeared quickly, and the appointment with the dermatologist was canceled. He feels good, and is very present now, with sound, with playing. He never feels like he 'has to', always goes outside, with a friend. What stands out is that he now plays more with peers instead of younger children. Swimming is also going better now, motor skills are improving.
His tongue still hangs out of his mouth a lot. Sleep is restless, moving, noises, and shaking his head. Now for the first time, he has the phase of 'there is something under the bed', doesn't want to go upstairs alone, and always wants music on, even when playing downstairs. For the first two years, he didn't hear anything, after the tubes, he looked surprised at all kinds of sounds. Always played by himself, mother didn't have to worry about him, and sometimes felt guilty for not cuddling more or holding him on her lap. We hear more confirmations of Carbon series here. He is entering the next developmental phase. The Carbon series aspect, 'living in your own body', little contact with the outside world, is recognizable as a theme, as a capacity, in his early years. The picture becomes clearer, which often happens after a good response. We'll wait and see, things are
going well and development is underway.
Five months later he had a period of intestinal complaints, stomach pain, and a few weeks of yellow stool, slimy, 4-5 times a day, with a foul smell. Bacterial culture negative. Had little appetite. Had a rash around the buttocks then (this indicates irritated intestinal mucosa in infants and toddlers, the skin around the anus reacts as a reflex zone). He also smelled from his mouth, as he always does when something is wrong.
The sniffles and warts stay away. The last two weeks 'the body is back at work': difficult to put on and take off clothing, a lot of 'I don't know, I can't'. He's back to playing with his tongue, biting his lips, pulling his ears, the insecurity: mother thinks it's in strange situations, with unfamiliar people. Not answering. In the months before, everything was going very well, there was a rash on the head and cradle cap. He has grown a lot in the past months. Now some rash under the lower lip, which also indicates irritation in the pelvis, usually the colon. He's quite stubborn, if it doesn't work he shuts himself off. Remarkably, he still looks at his hands daily and exclaims: it's over, really! Repeating Laurus nobilis MK resolved everything again, he is still growing up without complaints for years.
It often happens that there is a setback during or after a growth spurt, it can also be another period that requires a lot of energy. You can see from the reactions of the tongue, fingers in the mouth, and shutting himself off that the Carbon series aspect, 'in your own body', is still playing. You can say that in a Carbon series indication, consciousness is within the body's limits, and attention is focused inward. This explains the theme as described in the Magnoliidae. As an herb, Laurel works on digestion.
