655.26.06 Daphne indica, Case
Woman, 50, obesity.
Her weight has risen over the years, especially during her two pregnancies. She has had sinusitis since she was 16. She has hayfever and asthma which is worse in wet and foggy weather and she has pneumonia once a year. She has rheumatic pains in her fingers and knees. It is a tingling feeling, worse in winter and in the cold. She has oedema of her feet and hands especially before her menses. She has the feeling that the nerves do not conduct the impulses to and from her feet and hands. It feels as if her feet have been cut off. She also has frequent cystitis, leading to pyelonephritis, sometimes with high fever, pain, frequent urging and pain in her back. She has a prolapse of bladder, uterus and rectum. In the past she had haemorrhoids and once she was really ill from them with severe pain and nausea. As a little child she had frequent otitis and throat infections, which led to the tonsils being removed. The last 10 years she has had a spastic colon and sometimes even inflammation of the colon with stool till 10 times a day.
Her marriage is difficult. Her husband is domineering and authoritarian. He saw her as a rebel and did not take her seriously. He has a marked fear of contamination. She had to cover up the emotional problems in the marriage. She stayed with her husband for the children.
She is often under stress, feels very responsible, especially for her mother. She feels that she has lived the life of her mother, supporting her. She is hypersensitive. Sometimes she thinks she is insane because other people and her mother did not understand her. She has done a lot of therapies, psychotherapy, astrology, homeopathy and foot reflexology. She has been in search of herself, to get the picture of her wholeness. She wanted to know what she could do and was allowed to do. She missed structure in herself, order and regularity. The first half of her life she has been working for others, her mother and brother. She has been going over her boundaries most of her life.
Her father was domineering and she had a lot of confrontations with him. He was a sexist, saying that women were nothing, that her mother was not good enough. He never gave compliments to the children. She once discovered that he was looking with a telescope as a voyeur at other women. Her mother was submissive and weak. Her parents had a lot of quarrels and a bad marriage. Her mother was very stressed during her pregnancy. Her brother always was quarrelling with her parents. She was the mediator, wanted to bring harmony, had a strong aversion to disharmony.
In primary school she was bullied a lot because she was different and because she could work very well. Her mother advised her to do nothing about it because it could only make it worse. In high school she got into problems with learning because she was not stimulated by her parents. At 18 she got into an identity crisis asking herself where she belonged. She did not know if she was more Dutch or more from her original country. In psychotherapy she discovered that she was both.
During her pregnancy her allergies and obesity became worse. The first labour was very difficult and lasted 11 hours. After the first labour she went back into her own old baby time, feeling neglected. As a baby she was put into an old cold metal box. She became depressed but got herself out of the depression.
She is studying as a practitioner and studied foot reflexology.
Weather: < wet and warm weather, < hot weather, it leads to irritation and weakness.
Time: < morning, > evening, > spring and autumn.
Desire: sweet, sour after sweet, salt after a sweet, avocado.
Aversion: asparagus.
Food: < strawberries, pineapple, apples.
Female: menses severe abdominal pains, wringing from the pain, crawling over the ground, > warm applications, headache listless.
Sleep: very sleepy, tired due to all the cares and worries.
Analysis
Plant kingdom: likes plants very much; sensitive; emotional.
Carbon series: neglected baby, child.
Silicon series: marriage problems.
Silver series: interest in astrology, homeopathy, foot reflexology.
Thymelaeaceae: hands and feet are cut off
Subphase 6, Oxygen and Sulphur: neglected; handicapped; marriage.
Stage 6: timidity (Stages 2 to 9); goes for it, does it alone.
Together this leads to Daphne.
Follow up
After Daphne indica MK she comes closer to herself and feels more protected in herself. She feels calmer and light. For the first time in her life she feels good enough, having self worth.
Complaints have diminished greatly already after a month. The pains in her feet, neck, head and fingers are much less. Her memory is much better, she sleeps better and she feels less distended. Other people notice that she is lighter and more cheerful. She has the feeling that she has shrugged off an old skin, that she is losing toxins.
