Calotropis gigantea
Remedy code: 3- 665.27.10
A 62-year-old woman, petite and intense, looks up to the left when searching for words while talking. She speaks easily and animatedly, but tells her story step by step, appearing unprepared to share the whole narrative at once. She comes in for high blood pressure, which she measured herself (it was 190, now 170 with medication) and is also seeing a psychologist for hypochondria. This hypochondria has grown due to significant events in her immediate environment. It was simmering beneath the surface, and she wanted to address it. She saw a dietitian, who said everything was fine. Her blood pressure spikes at the GP’s office; she's been on medication and feels worse because of it. She pleaded with the doctor: "Oh, please help me. So much unrest." Four years ago, she got divorced and now wants peace in her body. She has experienced significant stress due to hypochondria and has had relatively many serious illnesses in the past. Ten years ago, a mammogram showed something, but it was just calcification. Later that year, she had severe altitude sickness and was hospitalized with 'life-threatening' conditions. A few years later, her mother got cancer, and she experienced everything closely. Her ex-husband then got cancer, and she had another mammogram and something in her uterus. Stress, stress. The following year several friends in her immediate environment were terminally ill. She kept a brave face, supported them, and accompanied them to the hospital. After the divorce, she felt guilty, with stress and palpitations. During the corona-virus lock down, she was at home and started ruminating, had no distractions, and her work didn’t survive. She worries about getting something herself, "Oh dear, I'm going to die" if she feels something or gets a call for a colon check. Six months ago, she started feeling restless, and more down, it just came up out of nowhere. She has worked all her life, first because it was fun, then out of necessity as the kids went to college. It was a pressure on her. Her husband never did much; she never had time to process things. The divorce: it hadn't been good for years, she fell in love with someone else, which gave her guilt. Now the relationship is good. Falling asleep is very difficult, and when she wakes up (often at 5 a.m.), her head starts bubbling, thinking. During the day, she tries to distract herself. Dreams: things from the past. Her hobby is walking a lot. She was always busy before. Initially, it was restlessness, then agitation, there were palpitations, and she started worrying about them, creating a cycle. She wants to solve it, and medication is trash. She wants to fight for it and feels this is the wrong path. She doesn’t know her biological father; she is half-Portuguese. Her father had a long-standing fight with her mother, she doesn't even know his name. For the first ten years, she was raised by her grandparents: strict, rigid, and not loving, her mother worked and was never there for her. Then her mother married a kind man. Her mother was a victim of her childhood, she was beaten and humiliated a lot in her youth. That tension has always remained with her. She is used to the culture here, but when she is back in Portugal, she feel at home, with the atmosphere and warmth.

Follow up after 3 weeks
It stirred up quite a bit; the next morning: as if something had to come out; sadness, she had a good cry and it was a relief. After the first day, she felt a certain band around her chest. She was gloomy all day, the second day too, but less severe. She slept normally but woke up sad, then it got better. The following week, the gloominess faded away. She has weaned off the doctor’s medication on her initiative and has been without medication for a week now. She is clearer in her head. During the lock down, memories from the past surfaced, the sadness, the difficult childhood, she couldn't let go, felt unsettled. But now she spoke about it with her mother, which also gave her peace, she finally dared to say it. Those rotten feelings dominated her for a long time. It is still there, but now reduced to 80%, the fear of getting something. She no longer
measures her blood pressure and is not as obsessed with it anymore. Dreams: she lost people due to the divorce, and she now dreams about those people, it is a tense atmosphere. They want to control her life and tell her what to do, and she doesn’t want it. Back then, she didn’t dare to resist. She has always wanted to keep herself strong in the marriage. Her husband was steady and strong. She wanted to be that too, always keeping herself together and strong. These are Stage 10 aspects, not capable of Phase 2. Often after the medicine, the story comes out better, and the awareness of it. The neck and shoulder were already tight, and still are, especially on the left. In the past, she also had restlessness, but due to busyness, she didn’t notice it, always running her whole life. Running and being busy is pleasant, but now the rest is also pleasant. She can feel pleasure again, and experience it, which does her good. It's partly hereditary, she recognizes it in her mother, getting panicked very quickly, seeing the negative. Her temperament is fierce. She has lost trust in the GP, every time it was a struggle. She still can’t read, and can’t keep her focus. Since it is going well, we’ll wait another month.
After two months, it’s much better. She feels the strength returning. She feels mentally stronger and finds everything interesting again. She is now eager to do things and is applying for jobs again, which she dreaded last year. She stopped seeing the psychologist, “it did nothing”. Physio also did nothing. Mentally (the hypochondria): she is less on alert, she now feels it’s at 50%. She had more conversations with her mother, faced confrontation, and said what she struggled with. That also gives peace. Blood pressure: at the GP’s 190, at home 117. Sleep is also very good, dreams sometimes about an ex-girlfriend who escalated things. Memories that come up, occasionally about her childhood, her mother, and the divorce which she found very difficult. The neck and shoulder complaints disappeared after a few weeks.
