Asclepias tuberosa
Remedy code: 3-665.27.06
A 50-year-old woman, with an open expression, speaks candidly and is very comfortable to interact with from the first meeting. Since last year, she has had a complaint: her feet hurt, specifically her heels and soles, and now the forefoot has also become very sensitive. Blood tests are negative. She has had a nagging pain in her right shoulder for a long time; it feels stuck. She leads a healthy life, exercises a lot, and watches her diet and cholesterol. She experiences a lot of stress, sometimes feels as if her heart skips a beat, and feels a bit anxious. She has used Crataegus as a herb for this. This year, due to the pandemic, there has been a lot of stress; it’s the difference in thinking within the family, she doesn’t want the vaccination, and it frustrates her that she can’t convince the others. She minimizes contact with the family as much as possible. She worries about her children, wondering if they are doing well. Last year, she woke up suddenly with a throbbing sensation in the soles and heels of both feet, also on the sides, a kind of nerve pain. Wearing good shoes makes it less severe. Walking hurts, but continuing to walk provides relief. The nights are fine. She has had the shoulder complaint for years; she feels it upon waking up. She sleeps well and wakes up refreshed. She has a lot of energy. She has always had heavy menstruation. She is Asian; in her early childhood, her parents moved to the Netherlands for work and never integrated. Last year, her father had a heart attack after the COVID vaccination. She is allergic to nuts.
Analysis
Plantar fasciïtis, nerve pain. Everything started with the shoulder. Since she is otherwise healthy and lives healthily, we look at the stress of that period. The previous year: contact with the family was broken, corresponding Phase 7 or Stage 17; she can’t convey her opinion, which is Silver series. The loss of her father is a theme, a theme that possibly reveals a sensitivity, which is Phase 7. Not knowing how to handle it, feeling powerless: Phase 2. The stress of that year affects her, and the sensitive spots then present symptoms. We know that the complaints do not sit in a weak spot but in the place where the body parts or processes the tension. The location, nature, and triggering factors are then the themes we look for and categorize within the concept of Wonderful Plants of Qjure, taking into account other factors, other complaints, disposition, and life attitude. For this case, the rubric ‘pain shoulder right’ was reviewed, with Asclepias emerging given the above context. Justification is found in:
Gold series: pain, allergy, autonomous thinking
Silver series: not integrated into this culture, conveying opinions, nerve pain, shoulder girdle fits the Silver Series, which is analogous to Silver series.
Phase 2: not integrated in culture, powerless, not knowing how to handle it.
Phase 7: loss, no contact as a resolving ability.
Qjure: fear of losing family.
Prescription: Asclepias tuberosa MK.
Follow up
After three weeks, she felt a significant improvement on the first day: the pain in her feet was not as sharp anymore, and then it fluctuated. She quickly resumed walking without the sharp pain, though she still felt something after sitting for a long time, but with sports shoes, it was better than with slippers. She is calmer now, more introspective, and she "lets go": there’s no point in motivating the family. She notices she worries less about things she can’t change and has no say in. The right shoulder remains the same; upon waking, it’s nagging and stuck. she felt the heart a few more times. When she thinks about her father, she feels so powerless, she just have to let go. She still has concerns about vaccines, questioning why people do this; she worries about what’s happening in the world, and the injustice, that the government does this. Who am I, what can I do about it, powerless. Once, she got completely angry when her family commented that she went to the hairdresser without a mask. The shoulder gradually improves, flaring up with tension; the following year, she provides a lot of care and faces significant concerns with new responsibilities. A year later, she received Haliaeetus leucocephalus.
