Botany: perennial herb, 6 cm high; bulb, deeply buried; habitat grassland; blooms after fires in spring; leaves, grass like, blunt-tipped, produced after the flower; flowers solitary, white to pink, 25-35 mm, tube; ovary underground portion, sweetly scented; seed a capsule just reaches the surface of the soil, than thin wall breaking open to release the seeds.
Use: traditional medicine for stomach complaints.
