Psylliostachys suworowii
Woman (DC) 59 years- Presenting VERTIGO since 2013

Presents as small and elf like. Vertigo scared her. She says ground feels spongy. She has to sleep upright in bed.
In 2013 she was in Cornwall UK and previously had moved around a lot in UK trying to find out what she wanted to do.
2007-9 she had lived with her parents – mother became very ill and was very dependent on DC. She wanted to escape and hated looking after her mother. She felt trapped and disempowered. She went to do an art degree. She has lack of confidence in her artistic ability and got a job as a receptionist which she didn’t enjoy.

In 1999-2000 she broke up with girlfriend after 2 years. This was the hardest thing for her and she couldn’t cry.

Her father had been very strict and controlling when she was a child. She was a free spirit.
She says she has floated through life. She went to many different schools, but wasn’t stimulated at school. She got involved with the ‘wrong’ kids. It was a picture of parental domination, yet neglect.

I gave her a butterfly remedy initially (Epargyreus Clarus- Silver Spotted Skipper) followed by Yttrium carbonicum which seemed to help somewhat. The vertigo became better and she had more confidence.

Five years later she presented again.
Returning to Cornwall in 2018 seemed right at the time, settling in a quaint but cramped cottage near her ex girlfriend and her current partner as a temporary haven. By 2020, the pandemic upheaval led to job loss and financial insecurity. She had to sell her car, a symbol of freedom, plunging her life into a downward spiral.
Seeking a creative resurgence, she enrolled in a painting course, a financial stretch. But the cramped space in her cottage led to an exacerbation of neck issues, a vulnerability from extensive computer use.
Physical discomfort expanded to rib pains, numbness, and a resurgence of balance problems, compounded by new health scares including acid reflux and fears of serious conditions, heightened by familial cancer histories.
Her isolation deepened with COVID-19 in April 2022, manifesting as extreme fatigue, a dry cough, and loss of smell, amidst a backdrop of financial anxiety and dwindling savings. Depression crept in, eroding her confidence, with the job market disinterested in her administrative skills. Dreams of an art-based venture clashed with the reality of a cramped living space, fuelling a sense of entrapment, devoid of the energy or inspiration needed for creativity or the freedom she yearned for.
Her social circle dwindled to a few local friends.
Physical health concerns mingled with fears of financial ruin and invasive medical interventions. Unresolved anger towards an ex-partner lingered, complicating their proximity and intertwined lives with undercurrents of dependency and a desire for separation yet longing for their companionship.

I repeated the Epargyreus, but no response.

Analysis
I felt the unresolved anger towards her ex girlfriend and feeling too close with the ex and her current partner was important. Her youth feeling neglected by her parents and hatred for her mum who was over demanding in her need for care was also relevant.
Her lack of direction in her artistic endeavours was significant.
66- free spirit.
663- family and relationship issues versus independence.
663.63 Feeling overwhelmed by mother’s demands and childhood neglect; triangle with ex and current partner.
663.63.12 Controlled anger towards her ex.
Prescription: Psylliostachys suworowii 200, 3-663.63.12.

Follow up
“I’m good- mentally- GREAT! Every day- picking up sketch book. PLAYING! My art work had gone to more quieter monochromatic. AUSTERITY. Now more PLAYFUL.”
Took off pressure.
Had never sustained it for so long.
She feels much more optimistic.
I’m on this path. I’m right there at the beginning. I’ve opened a door.
Physically- a week ago- stomach flaring- pains- going to left side of ribs. Calmer last couple of days.
Past 3 weeks – craving cakes, sweets. Stopped being afraid of food. Was worried about being diabetic.
Headache on waking- to do with lack of sleep and position in bed, > since remedy.
Her friends tell her she is MORE ANIMATED.

On repeating the Psilliostachys remedy the patient had a recurrence of a lot of the physical symptoms: dizziness, TMJ, right sided head tension, rib pains.
I felt that Psilliostachys was a good remedy but there was a picture which was underlying the physical state of scoliosis. The patient seemed very vague about everything; lots of hopes and wishes but no ability to actually act on them. The patient had to sit upright, erect in bed at night as she was scared of the dizziness starting if she lay down. I did a search in Referenceworks for sitting erect at night and, of course, Clematis recta came up. I knew the Bach remedy picture of Clematis recta and felt it really fitted the patient’s emotional state. And when I looked at the homeopathic symptoms and considered the numbers 642.13.17 it all fitted.
So Clematis recta 200.
The patient reported the following week: “Throughout the day my headache worsened and there also pain in my temple, my ear, my eye, the jaw and my lower molar. I felt really unwell, dizzy and off balance until the evening when it started to calm. The following day I didn’t feel great, but there was no toothache and most of the previous day’s discomfort was at a much lower level. Sunday felt better than Saturday, but still a little wobbly. Monday, I didn’t have the right sided issues, but I did have intermittent severe burning in the middle of my chest. Tuesday, everything was calmer in my body and no headache or jaw pain. This morning I’m feeling fine, no right sided issues or chest pain.”
