Mimulus guttatus

Mimulus guttatus
Remedy code: 3-665.56.02
A 50-year-old woman, slender, with a roughly built face; she speaks similarly, in short sentences, with a compact tone, and sits slouched in the chair. She moves fluidly and makes good contact but radiates indifference. Over the past year, she’s had many painful aphthes in her mouth and acne rosacea on her cheeks, with pus-filled pimples for nearly a year. The sores vesicles are very bothersome; they’re painful outbreaks on her gums and cheeks, sometimes on her tongue. Her menstrual cycle is now irregular, with more blood clots than flow over the past three years. Since a polyp was removed, the bleeding has not been as heavy. Before menstruation, she has very painful breasts. She feels out of balance and very restless. She doesn’t feel like herself; one day, she thinks, “There’s no point, whatever,” and the next day, she feels fine. She’s had this feeling for a year and thinks it might be menopause. She wonders what could be causing it and sometimes thinks she should return to her hometown, questioning whether she still enjoys this area. Last year, there was tension and stress at work; she said no, tired of constantly racing against the clock, doing more and more. She thought about it every minute, every day. She felt, “Don’t whine, figure it out yourself; why are you asking me?” She went back to her previous job. There, she began experiencing neck pain again, with headaches upon waking. The balance is still missing. During the COVID lockdown, she saw too few people, and it still bothers her not to see anyone, yet she also feels fed up with all the hustle and bustle. She sleeps well; she’s always alert, sometimes getting up to sit on the couch for half an hour. Recently, she had a dream where she was screaming while being chased. Doing something for herself: biking and walking; she wonders what creative hobby she could take up, but she doesn’t know. Maybe she could distract herself, and “share something with other people.” Her bowels remains calm. Years ago, she had many bowel issues that resolved with Collinsonia canadensis (family Nepetoideae, Subphase 5, within the Lamiales Phase 5 of the Lamiidae).

Analysis
A key theme is contact with others and the search for vitality: Lamiidae. She emphasizes this several times during the conversation. Supporting this choice is a loaded subject: where she lives, she feels no connection, not enough). The theme of her “own” village, a different culture of living (different province): Classe 5. Reflecting on this points slightly toward Classe 6.
Phase 5: Restlessness, pressure, and stress at work (burdensome theme), seeking contact, and liveliness (a solution-oriented theme).
Phase 6: Tired, overburdened, wanting to leave.
Look within 6 65 5 6, the Phrymaceae family. Not knowing, feeling indecisive, or appearing indecisive fits with Stadium 2, “I don’t know,” “no idea.” Outbreaks (of symptoms): compare with Magnesium, the theme of balance in Stadium 2.
Prescription: Mimulus guttatus C200.

Follow-up
The painful aphthes came back on the lower lip and cheeks in the first week, then disappeared and haven’t returned. Vaginal inflammation returned in the first month, similar to the period with intestinal complaints. The menstrual cycle is now back to normal. The intestines remain calm. The acne rosacea is not very extreme; it has never completely gone away since puberty. After four months, the skin is also calm. Feeling restless and rushed can still happen but went away after two months. Her oldest child is “feisty,” always rebellious (Phase 5), always blaming the mother (Phase 6). She wants to be around people; otherwise, she becomes restless and unhappy (Lamiales).
