Name: Sisyrinchium galaxoides
Abbrev.: Sisy.
English: Blue-eyed Grass
It is said to have been used by the Indians in treating snake bites, especially the rattlesnake.
According to Dr. Reed the symptoms of the snake bites cured with Sisy. are: the skin is a bluish black color as if dreadfully bruised. The whole body becomes very red, hot and dry, face dark red. The leg and foot are enormously swollen and of the same general appearance. The foot, calf of the leg and thigh turn black. Patient delirious but would cry out if touched. Wild delirium all night. Unconscious. Pulse quick and hard.
