14.9 Erbium phosphoricum case
Width 8, Depth 8, Cure 6, Duration 4
A man of 60 years of age has had complaints of paralysis, for more than a year. The strength in his legs and feet is so reduced that he can’t walk more than 100 meters. His arms and hands are also so weakened that he can’t write anymore. He has tingling in his toes with the feeling as if walking on cushions. He’s very thin, having lost 13 kilos last year. His sleep is disturbed by the pain in his legs, so he can’t sleep before 3 am. It was first diagnosed as Guillain-Barré syndrome, then ICDP. They suspect it to be the syndrome of POMS, a combination of polyneuropathy, Organ damage of liver and spleen, M proteins in the blood and Skin darkening, but they couldn't detect the M proteins. He’s treated with corticosteroids and immunoglobulins, and takes for himself vitamin B12, calcium, multivitamins and minerals, omega capsules and antioxidants. The years before the complaints started, he had problems with his company. He had a small insurance company together with a partner and 3 employee. Over the last few years it hasn't been going very well due to the economic bad times. He succeeded in selling it and liquidating it neatly. He had started the company because he didn't want to work for big companies, in big structures. He has an aversion to a boss telling him what to do. He had chosen insurance because he didn't know anything better (“Wenn man alles hat versucht und nichts hat gelungen, fängt man an in Versicherungen”: "When one has tried everything and nothing has succeeded, one can start in insurance"). His father was also in insurance.
He’s a loner but he started his company with a partner who was more practical whilst he was more theoretical. It was a good combination. He’s not very courageous even though he likes adventure, travelling and seeing unusual things. He’s critical, of society, of people creating chaos instead of solutions. For instance, he can get very irritated about road messages in language instead of symbols. In military service he discovered that people withdrew from responsibility, so he did the same in order to be declared a fool. There he discovered that one needs to build up a workload, that one has to have a full desk, which he tells me with a smile.
He has a distant quality, almost laconic.
He’s flexible. He lacks spatial insight.
Color preference: 12B (light pruple), 21B (light green).
Dream: he's hanging onto the edge of a bridge, the bridge closes and his fingers get crushed.

Analysis
The paralysis reminds us of Silver series or Gold series. His desire for autonomy is typical of the Lanthanides. The M proteins can be an indication for an auto-immune response, again indicating a Lanthanide. The situation of his company before the disease is typical of Stage 14. The company was almost bankrupt, at the end of its life. He succeeded in selling and liquidating it, before everything was lost. But even the start of his company is typical of Stage 14: “Wenn man alles hat versucht und nichts hat gelungen, fängt man an in Versicherungen”. It is as if it’s not really a choice, but the last possibility. It’s a kind of diverting responsibility, as people did in the army.
But there is also an aspect of working together, although he’s a loner, he has a desire for a companion. This points to Phosphorus.
Together this leads to Erbium phosphoricum. What's typical is his irritation from road messages in language instead of symbols. The language points to formality, Stage 14 and the message to Phosphorus.
