Region: Central America and South America; Florida.
Botany: habitat native to warm temperate and tropical; no chlorophyll, myco-heterotrophs; roots thick, densely clustered forming a "birds nest"; flowers single or held in corymbs of many individual flowers; stems usually pallid, reduced scale-like foliage; flowers can vary in colour with white or yellow, also blue and pink; dark conditions, such as the floor of deep forests.
