Verbena officinalis

Verbena officinalis
Abbrev. : Verb-h.
Names : Verbena officinalis, Verbena hastata
English : Vervain, Blue vervain
German : Eisenkraut, Eisenhart
Dutch : Ijzerhard, ridderblad, kerkkruid, ridderkruid, ijzerkruid

In 1997 Anje Bruch published some Verbena cases in S.S.C. 27/2 (1997). According to her the essence of the remedy is ‘enduring’. It is for people who keep on going, persevere and tolerate too much from others. Understanding others goes to the detriment of the own health. It seems more often indicated in women. In the youth people needing Verbena off. have learned to adapt to a dominant parent and there seems to be no choice in the way they act. They experience their situation as an established fact and cannot vision changing their attitude. They act as ‘victims’ and sometimes distrust others. After receiving the remedy alternatives are possible: a divorce, moving to another house and generally they become more assertive and in contact with their inner needs.
