Content: carbohydrates with various biological activities.
Use: edible, but bland and flavorless.
Mycology
Fungus; common jelly fungus; fruit body is gelatinous, orange-yellow, up to 7.5 cm diameter; surface convoluted or lobed, greasy, slimy when damp; grows in crevices in bark, appearing during rainy weather; dries into a thin film or shriveled mass, reviving after subsequent rain; habitat deciduous and mixed forests; sessile basidia; parasitizes the mycelium of Peniophora.
