Botany
Shrubs; 0.1–2 m high.
Leaves: simple, flat, heart or egg-shaped and may be rounded at the base; small to medium; opposite; with petiole; smooth or covered with soft hairs on the upper surface, the underside covered in fine, soft hairs; margins flat and scalloped.
Inflorescence: thread-like peduncle.
Flowers: single; in leaf axils, with 5 small to medium sized bracts; sepals and petals are whorled around the centre floral receptacle; anthers bursting open through a hole.
Fruit: hairy capsule; 2–7 mm long; containing 2 seeds.
