English: Youth on age; Thousand mothers; Piggyback plant.
Dutch: Kindje op moeders schoot, = Child on mother’s lap.
Use: young shoots in spring, raw, rather bitter.

Botany
Herb; perennial.
Region: west coast of North America.
Habitat: moisture, by streams; intolerant of much sun or dry conditions; grows plantlets from the petiole near the base of each leaf, drop off, fall in the soil and take root there; altitude below 1800 metres.
