Thulium carbonicum

15.4 Thulium carbonicum case
Width 6, Depth 7, Cure 8, Duration 5

A man of 50 years of age comes with an HIV-infection that he got 6 years ago. After discovering the HIV, he had a nervous breakdown for a year. His friend had other contacts without telling him. He felt cheated. They had had a relationship already for 17 years. Later his friend died from AIDS and cancer. The HIV frightens him. He has lost many friends because of AIDS. It makes him feel like a leper, especially when he’s rejected, for instance by his physiotherapist who didn't want to help him after the disease was discovered. The diagnosis was terrible for him: he felt nothing but misery, and not much was left of his self-image.
He has headaches above his eyes and in his temples, worse in morning on rising, better after a hot shower. He has tension in the muscles, especially in the neck region. He has high blood pressure of 150-110. His cholesterol is too high. He had fatigue for years and does fitness-training to get into better shape. He’s fighting for his health but with difficulty.
At the age of 14 he discovered he was homosexual and told this in confidence to a nephew but his father heard it and was outraged. He had to say that he was “gay” and wasn't allowed to go out again. He felt there was “not much left over of me”. He fled away one night, but his father called the police to get him. His mother was hysterical, felt that he was “dirty” and didn't want to kiss him anymore.
He left the house. Until 20, he was not allowed to go out and his telephone calls were tapped. He started to hate his father.
His father was very domineering, even tyrannical. He was afraid of his father, and was not allowed to say anything against him. His father had survived concentration camp, where his own parents died from the cold. He himself is a nice friendly person, wanting to help others. Sometimes he even helps too much, overstepping his own boundaries with exhaustion as a result. He does not easily show how he really feels and pretends to be cheerful. In the past he didn't have the courage to say no, fearing rejection. At 25 he had hepatitis B. The complaints were fatigue, sweaty, yellow skin, nausea, vomiting, headache, losing weight and a fever of 39C for 3 weeks. Since then he gets bloating of the abdomen, worse from smelling food, worse from fat and spicy food. It’s a nagging pain, with nausea and a feeling like influenza.

Dream: being persecuted.
Dream: father was persecuting him with a knife.
Weather: > sunny weather.
Time: < 9 pm, 11 pm.
Desire: Dutch food, milk, sweets, chocolate.
Aversion: < mussels, < spicy food: digestive problems. Analysis
The HIV and AIDS strongly indicate Thulium. It’s the loss (Stage 15) of the immune system (Lanthanides). It’s confirmed by his feeling of being a bad person when his homosexuality was discovered, that there was “not much left over of me”.
This feeling was given to him by his father, which points to Carbon. Although he didn't say it, I had the feeling that he really felt a bad person when his father degraded him. And that’s typical Thulium.
So we come to Thulium carbonicum.

Confirmations
Lanthanides: < dominated.
Stage 15: lost.
Carbonicum: lost self-image, friendly, weeping easily, afraid of father.

Follow up
After Thulium carbonicum MK he started feeling better. He became more active, doing more sports. He had more pleasure in life, was more positive. He felt less like an outcast due to the AIDS. His muscle pains got better, the hypertension went down. He has nice dreams, also some erotic ones. He is doing fine, all is going well. The quality of life went from 40 to 80.
A year later he’s doing great. His headaches are practically gone. His energy is better, but not completely fine

Because Thulium carbonicum wasn't yet available when he came to me, I started first with Thulium metallicum, which helped a little bit. But he also got gallstone colic with nausea, vomiting a lot of bile and feeling broken afterwards.
Later Thulium oxydatum was given. He had an amelioration for 4 days, feeling happy, enjoying life, wanting to do everything but this subsided and 2 weeks later he felt worse with headache, muscle ache, fatigue, stitching and pressing pain in his liver and being listless. He was very emotional, weeping easily. This last part indicated Carbon.

In the waiting time for Thulium carbonicum, Taraxacum MK was given with the idea of the partial problem of the hepatitis. Symptoms pointing to Taraxacum are: hepatitis, < fat, high fever (Asteraceae), feeling of being a leper (Stage 16). After Taraxacum MK he had more energy, could do sports better, less tension in abdomen, his sexual desire increased and he felt more positive in life. But the HIV did not change.
