665.46.13 Syringa vulgaris, Case
Man, 55, ulcerative colitis.
He has complaints of watery and bloody stools, worse when he is tired and has a lack of sleep. It is worse form spicy and peppery food. It comes on with abdominal pain; a pressing, nasty feeling.
He also has ankylosing spondilitis since his early adolescence. He feels stiff in his shoulders and back, has a burning sore pain in his lumbar region, worse from motion and in in the morning on rising.
He is a bit stoic; he studied eastern languages, but transferred to computer technology in order to get a job.
He likes to do things very well, but often feels stressed when he has to achieve. His children were a stress. He prefers a life without responsibilities, travelling, translating and he lacks trust in regular medicine.
Fear: narrow places, places without an exit.
He has had, iridocyclitis, labyrinthitis, anaemia.
Desire: sweets.
Aversion: sour, spicy.
His mother had been very much in love with a young man who was shot in the war. She never recovered from it. She died from colitis when he was a young child.
Analysis
The theme of second hand love is prominent. His mother married someone else after the WW2, because her real love was shot by the Germans. He remarried a Brazilian woman after his marriage did not work. He chose computer jobs because he could not get a job in eastern languages. The remedy was found after he told me the story of his mother in the 5th consultation.
Asteridae: ulcerative colitis; auto-immune disease.
Oleaceae: continuing the marriage till the children are grown up.
Syringa vulgaris: second hand love.
