Nux vomica is prepared from the ripe, dried seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica (the fallow nut). Distribution: Sri Lanka, India, Burma and Northern Australia.
This tree can reach a height of 20 meters. The plant has oval leaves and clusters of greenish white flowers, followed by fruits as large as a tennis ball with gray, flat, round seeds.
Contents
The bark, root and dermis contain strychnine and brucine.
