Botany: dioecious; herbaceous; annual; ± 50 centimetres; petals deeply notched; leaves oval to lanceolate, ± 5 cm, basal rosette, older forked stems from it, leaves in opposite pairs; flowers in clusters at the tops; inflated calyx, five white petals, each petal deeply notched; flowering lasts from late spring to early autumn; densely hairy; open habitats, wasteland; neutral to alkaline soils; sunny; rich and well-drained soil.
Culture: on gravesites, around tombstones.
