Taxonomy
Sesuvioideae is one of the first spltting off subfamilies of Aizoaceae, togheter with Aizooideae and Tetragonioideae.

In the second version of the Plant theory the above 3 smaal subfamilies are placed together in Subphase 1, in the Order Aizoales in Phase 2.
