Names: (= like senecio, an old man).
Botany: 150 genera; 3, 000 species; widest possible range of forms; annuals, minute creeping alpines, perennial herbs, shrubs, climbers, succulents, trees and semi-aquatic plants.
Content: pyrrolizidine alkaloids, furanoeremophilanes.
Taxonomy
Senecioneae is a Tribe of the Subfamily Asteroideae of Asteraceae.
In the Plant theory Asteroideae is split in four clades Heliantheae, Astereae, Senecioneae and Anthemideae. Senecioneae is placed in Subphase 6.
