8.3 Samarium carbonicum case

A woman of 25 years age has secondary oligo/-amenorrhoea. Her menses have
never been regular; from 13 years on only artificial bleeding thanks to oral contraceptives. But these gave her nausea and she gained weight. The
gynecologist could’nt find other problems. There is a slight hirsutism.
At 17 she had menses once spotaneously; at the moment once or twice a year.
It’s only a little bit, viscid, thready tenacious, dark, with pain in her mamma and nipples before menses. She wants a regular menses, and might want to become pregnant within some years.
She is the third girl in the family, first child in her mothers second marriage.
She was bullied at school till 15, which gave a lot of grief. She couldn’t
make good contact, and the family did not help her with it.
At 15 the family moved, and then she did better at another school.
Her father was a friend in childhood. At 16 she overgrew her father.
intellectually. She couldn’t respect him anymore, especially
because he was more and more inactive.

With her mother she feels good, can be a child.
She’s very independent, she knows what she wants and what she is looking for. In puberty she sported a lot, fanatic.
At 17 she joined a religious group, Luther’s baptized. It gave her a
broad vision. It fitted in with her critical, idealistic nature, being a thinker.
Freedom is important.
She’s very intelligent, studies theology, plans to do filosofy after that.
At 18 she had her first relationship with a man 6 years older, her husband now.
Dream: her mother is pregnant (once).
Dream: having to run the whole night, being persued; this is an old, recurring dream.
Analysis
The main problem is menses and pregnancy. This can indicate
Muriaticum. But in this case the child-theme is more connected to
the father. The father-theme is strong.
The Lanthanides become clear from her independence and talents. She
gets a job as editor for a media firm, and is asked to be a pastor in a parish for some months.
The Stage becomes clear from her dream of having to run the whole
night, and from thougts about: I have to carry everything, have to be strong.
this indicates Stage 8.

Follow up
After Samarium carbonicum MK her headache is gone and her menses
started. She feels a little awkward before menses, has fever and eye
pain worse from motion. She is good in her job as a pastor, has
better contact with her father and is more relaxed. After 3 months
she’s pregnant. Later she gives birth and everything works out allright.
She feels content, everything is good.
She says: I learned a lot; am more conscious of my emotions; I rule my life, before it was my study, my job that ruled me. Her study isn’t so much a fight anymore.
She has had other prescriptions before.
After Magnesium carbonicum she got headache and couldn’t make
contact with her emotions anymore.
After Natrium carbonicum a lot of tension is gone. She feels happy
and has the feeling that a lot will change. After a repetition her
headache is gone, she has cramp in her right lower abdomen. She’s
offered jobs, her father is very proud of it. But this doesn’t fit
because she does not feel like his little child anymore.
After a repetition she feels happy, gets a menses and develops an influenza
with pain in her eyes and muscles on motion. After another repetition she gets another
menses, she feels having too much responsibility, at her work, with
her husband with MS. She has pain in her wrists and fingers. She
dreams about all the things she had to do.
After Samarium muriaticum she has less cares, she delegates more at
her work. She gets a menses with fatigue. After a repetition she
develops a desire for chocolate and coffee, and the desire to have a child is growing.
After Natrium muriaticum she feels worse, has pressure in her
forehead, feels stuffy and stuck. She’s fighting, wanting it her own
way. She feels that colleagues or teachers work against her, she wants other
subjects attended. She feels humiliated.
Comment
This case shows the searching process of homeopathy. The similes can
give ameliorations sometimes, but it’s only temporary. Or they give
aggravations, mostly of the already known symptoms. Most of those
symptoms just keep on indicating the simillimum.
