A 57-year-old woman comes in with intestinal complaints. She has recently undergone tests and has been diagnosed with spastic colon and diverticulitis. It started last year after a stomach flu, she was in a lot of pain and even called an ambulance. Over the past three weeks, her intestines have been very bad, she has to go to the toilet often, and her stools are thin. She always has stabbing pains in the upper right side of her abdomen, followed by cramps in her lower abdomen, which ease after a bowel movement. Her stomach is upset, she feels nauseous, she has no appetite, and she does not feel like doing anything. Periodically, her condition fluctuates. Paracetamol and codeine help, as does a hot water bottle. She uses duspatal, peppermint capsules, probiotics, and nexium. What she finds worse is that she becomes despondent and is unable to work. She never has a fever. Her bowel movements have been very variable for years, either diarrhea or mushy. Her entire family also has intestinal problems. She has always had frequent cramps, but these are so severe that they are taking over her life. She burps a lot, suddenly has diarrhea, and feels nauseous. She is always afraid of being in the car and needing to go to the bathroom. Her abdomen is swollen, and she is fixated on her stomach. She works as a beauty specialist. She once used paroxetine because of severe panic attacks, which were related to her relationship at the time. Her partner had a drug problem, was bossy, and was verbally aggressive. She still cannot do without paroxetine; without it, she is very depressed, cries a lot, has heart palpitations, feels very gloomy, and cannot enjoy anything. She sometimes has headaches. Past surgeries: due to endometriosis, her ovaries, gallbladder, and uterus have been removed. Since having children, she has had severe cramps during her period. She eats well. She has tinnitus and needs to have music on to be able to sleep; it is the sound of an ambulance. At first, she heard it at night, but now she hears it all day long, increasingly so over the past two years. Dreams: being lost, walking around looking for something. She is always restless and always loses things. She has been doing her job her whole life and enjoys it. She first worked in healthcare to earn some money when she was on her own. She enjoys interacting with people and caring for them. She always had boundless energy, but now she is tired. She often calls on weekends, in alarm, complaining, “It's so bad,” “It's not over yet.”
After Acalypha indica, the complaint becomes slightly less severe, after Gambogia (Garcinia hanburyi) she gets slightly better energy.

Follow-up
The first month is fairly quiet. In between, she had diarrhea twice but was not sick from it, and there was also a flu going around. She has not been bedridden this month for the first time in a long time. After taking this medication, she was very tired for a week, then had diarrhea for a day, and from that moment on, everything was over.
The spot on the right that hurts is less severe, sometimes she has no bowel movements for a day, and she has less gas. She can stop taking her medication. During the first few weeks, she is still anxious that it will come back. The tinnitus remains the same. After three months, she has another bad day. In the meantime, she is reassured and no longer uncertain. After four months, she is fine. After seven months, she says she is busy, feels better about herself, and has been on a sports vacation.
