Psychotria viridis
Remedy code: 3-665.433.16
A 15-year-old girl with a wide mouth and noticeably red lips comes across as somewhat tense; it's as if her thoughts wander off for a moment when she's thinking or answering, searching for a balance between what she wants to say and what is expected to be said. She has been sick for three weeks, with a high fever, a severe cough, a bit of a sore throat, and extreme fatigue. Very tired, with a pressing headache. She lies on the couch all day, and if she tries to do something, she gets a throbbing headache. She was given antibiotics and was fever-free for a few days, but then everything came back. She feels very hot, her right cheek is red, and during a coughing fit, it feels as if "her lungs want to spit something out." A lot has happened in the period before this: her parents separated, and ever since a new partner came into the picture, she’s been receiving criticism about her hobbies; she is told to stay at home. She often doesn’t know what to say and no longer wants to join outings, but she has to. She feels watched when trying to be herself, sensing unpleasant looks when she picks something up or drops something. She was stared at. It hurts her, causing sadness and a sense of loss, and she feels she isn’t treated the same as her brothers. This makes her start to worry. It began six months ago when they forgot to pick her up from school. She is "forced" to go on walks or have difficult conversations; he then has a completely different face, belittles her, and stands in the doorway of her room, staring at her. Sometimes she is afraid of him. She doesn’t go there anymore and now lives at one address, where she has a "home base." She already got stressed just packing her bag. School is going well now; the previous school caused tension, she couldn’t be herself there, and you had to conform to a certain image. Now she attends a creative school with dance, drama, and singing. She previously had a congenital heart defect, and was always tired and sick, with many rhythm disturbances, but after surgery three years ago, that is now over.
Analysis
Gold series: self-awareness, heart defect, integrity as a theme.
Silver series: sensitivity to performance, what is expected of you, creative hobbies.
Gold series5: here, the description from Qjure is present: Desire for autonomy, living their own life. Aversion to being dominated, ordered, or forced. Desire to be special, to achieve high goals in culture, to become famous in art or science. Anger, < being humiliated.
Within the Lamiidae, we look for a suitable botanical order, a phase. Rubiales are often quirky, have strong personal ideas, seek reference within themselves, and contemplate their thoughts; deliberation of statements is a clear characteristic. Although it is ‘an acute’ an infection, the situation in her life made her vulnerable, so that is the focus of the analysis.
Phase 4: being sure of oneself, being convinced. As an undertone, as a basis.
Phase 3: giving in, unable to resist. The Subphase is always more visible, the tension with the base, the Phase.
Stage 16: the action is staying away (neglected child), no appreciation, withdrawing, the fatigue.
Prescription: Psychotria virides C12.
Follow-up
After four weeks, she started sweating a lot, feeling alternately hot and cold, but after a week, she had already improved significantly, no longer weak and sitting with her eyes closed all day. It all seemed very much like the mononucleosis she had previously experienced. She is still tired at school, in the afternoon, when she also feels shaky. Sleep is better; she no longer wakes up from the coughing but is not yet fully rested. The headache is gone, and she is eating normally again. She still doesn’t want to go to the other address and still shows adaptive behavior, but she is growing in her ability to deal with it. She notices the changes in herself but cannot put them into words. After another two weeks, all the fatigue disappeared; she wakes up rested and has many dreams, can express herself more clearly to both parents and no longer freezes or postpones everything. Her thoughts now turn to daily matters. In the months that followed, she did very well, with energy, mood, and emotions exceeding expectations. Again we see that the C12 potention works on a deep level, making her stronger and able to take this emotional mountain. If the remedy is fitting, it will work, in any potention.
