Region: Canary Islands, Madeira.
Botany: understory, evergreen shrubs to trees; leaves large, opposite, entire, shiny, ovoid, laurel-shaped; flowers numerous, small, white, fragrant; fruit a drupe, one-seeded, olive-like green, ripening to bluish-black.
