Scientific name: Papaver somniferum.
English name: Poppy.
Opium is the gummy exudation of the unripe capsule of the poppy.
Mind
Situational Materia Medica
A man lying on a battlefield, his army has lost and the enemy comes to kill the survivors, in order to survive he feigns death. As a dead man he doesn’t feel anything, even when they prick in him he doesn’t react. His stool runs out of his "dead" body. He has already death spots.
Slave
They feel very weak, have the idea that have now ill of their own. They have no will power or good judgment. Self control is lost.
Dangerous world
The world feels as a dangerous place. All kinds of happenings can induce fear and fright. Opium is a remedy that is in many rubrics of the repertory with "Ailments from". Almost anything can induce a disease, but behind it is the fright.

He needs nothing because everything is fine. They can even go into all kinds of imagina- tions: that they are big and strong, that all is very well. Just the opposite of what’s going on. It’s the only solution out of a situation that’s bad but where they don’t have power.

Wants nothing, says nothing ails him. Placid.
Exaltation of the mind, vivid imaginations.
Gaiety. Talkative.
Stimulates the imagination.
Deceit
Tendency to lie.
Deceptive, vision, taste touch, perversion of all senses.
Dreams: cats, dogs, black forms; pleasant, fantastic, amorous.
General
Type: light hair, lax muscles.
Weather: chilly, > cold, > uncovering, < heat, sunstroke.
Sweat: hot, whole body except lower limbs.
Desire: alcohol, drinks.
Food: < alcohol, < stimulants.
Sleep: heavy, deep, stupid, + stertorous breathing; < during and after sleep; sleepless < noise, < acute hearing. Physical: -> > uncovering; > constant walking, < odors; charcoal fumes, drug overdose, lead.
Physical
CNS: apoplexy; epilepsy, spasm, tetanus.
Head: heavy occiput.
Vertigo: lightness, < old people, < injuries.
Face: dark, mahogany-brown, passive congestion.
Ears: buzzing, tinkling, sea roaring; hearing acute.
Eyes: red, bulging; staring, glassy; half open; turned upward; eyelids hanging, paralyzed; pupils fixed, contracted, dilated, = light. Face: red, bloated, swollen, dark suffused, hot, intoxicated, besotted; distorted; trembling, twitching, spasmodic, corners of mouth; veins distended; jaw locked, hanging down; lips swollen, protruding.
Nose: loss of smell.
Mouth: dry. Blubbering of lips. Bloody froth. Looseness of teeth. Ulcers in mouth and on tongue. Copious salivation. Taste: bitter, sour taste.
Tongue: purple, white, black; paralysis; protrudes to right side, dry.

Lungs –
Respiration: unequal, stertorous, difficult, intermittent, deep, stops << sleep. Sighing.
