English: Morel; Yellow morel; Common morel; Sponge mushroom; Phallus esculentus.
Content: amino acids like isoleucine, leucine, lysin, methionine, phenylalanine, phreonine, valine; brassicasterol.
Culture: a Polish belief is that the devil by chopping an old woman to pieces, out of which morels sprang out of the ground.
Use: Chinese medicine, a tonic to intestines and stomach, reduces phlegm; regulates the flow of vital energy.

Mycology
Saprophytic; morels thrive where elms die from Dutch elm disease; favours burnt places; abundant in regions with cold winters; slow development.
