5.6 Molybdenum, Case 1
A 35 year old woman suffers from headaches, a feeling of pressure, as from a vice. The pain starts in her neck, and is better from warm applications. It is worse before dinner and before the menses. It is accompanied by empty and sour eructations and vomiting. The next day she feels very dull. She used to feel faint and dizzy with it, as if everything is turning in a circle. Sometimes she gets a momentary blindness in her left or right eye. Bright lights, like the headlights of oncoming traffic can spark it off.
Six months ago she had a cyst in her thyroid. It hurt very much during sneezing (2), coughing and talking, but not during swallowing.
She appears to be very firm and self assured. But she feels very unsure of herself, particularly about her small posture, her glasses and her breasts. She doesn’t dare to show her feelings, especially not in the company of men. She doesn’t want a video recording of the consultation, doesn’t even want a student to sit in. She can’t handle compliments, especially not in public, like when she was presented with a bouquet of flowers for her work for the First Aid division. She always thinks she has to prove herself and she is a great perfectionist. She can’t relax, always sits on the edge of her seat.
She loves art, she makes jewellry and she paints. She also sings, but only to herself, nobody else is allowed to listen. She practises yoga. She is very strong, stronger than a lot of men, she can beat them in ‘arm wrestling’ and she can swim faster than the lifeguard.
She is interested in nursing and in homeopathy.
Generals
Weather: cold, < cold; < wind; <- sun light, rain.
Perspiration: little.
Time: < evening, 7-11 pm, < 9 pm.
Desires: apple, mash with red cabbage, salt, vegetables, carrots, onion.
Aversion: potatoes, brown beans, endive.
Menses: prolonged, 10 days.
Sleep: good, on right side.
Analysis
She likes art, she makes jewellry, she sings and she paints. All this points to the Silver series. But she only sings to herself, nobody else is allowed to listen. And she has difficulty showing her feelings and ideas. This points to stage 6 and so we come to Molybdenum.
Other symptoms of the Silver series: unsure about herself, yoga, -> homeopathy.
Stage 6 symptoms: unsure, but appears self assured, <- video and student, strong, <- compliments.
Reaction
One month after Molybdenum 1M she feels much better. No more sore throats, although she had the sensation of feathers in her throat for a while. The headache has mostly gone. She is slightly less energetic, a bit slower in her movements, but much quieter and more content with the way things are. She had a dream about her feeling of insecurity.
One year later she has no more migraines, only some slight headaches from time to time.
