Chemistry: major constituent of the plant Ammi Visnaga, Bishop's Weed; colorless, odorless, bitter-tasting needle-shaped crystals; gamma-pyrone, a furanochromone derivative; medicines derived from it are amiodarone and cromolyn sodium.
Use: herbal folk medicine, Mediterranean, Ancient Egypt: renal colic, kidney stones, coronary disease, bronchial asthma, vitiligo, and psoriasis.
