Introduction
Jungermanniales is the biggest Order in Marchantiidae. It consists of 12 Suborders and between 15 and 46 families, depending on the classification being more refined or containing bigger families.
There is only Plagiochila asplenioides that we have a proving of and that indicates that it is in Phase 4. So probably the Suborder Lophocoleineae that contains Plagiochila is in Subphase 4.

Botany
Branches exo- or endogenous, ventral or lateral. Leaves succubous, incubous, or transverse, undivided
or variously lobed, sometimes conduplicate bilobed, but then usually with the smaller lobe(s), or lobules, dorsal (in ated water sacs rare); amphigastria present/absent S enclosed by a perianth or stem perigynium. Spore germination usually exosporic Gemmae present/absent. Fungal endosymbionts present.
