Case
A woman with multiple sclerosis
Tom Oosthuizen, homeopathic doctor at Zaandam
In 995 I saw a patient, 39 years old, a nurse with the main complaint: Multiple Sclerosis. At the age of 22 the symptoms started with a neuritis retrobulbaris, for which she had a prednisone treatment. After that, the eyesight largely returned. She hasn't taken any other medication since then, except for the pill.
Her symptoms are a recurrent feeling of pain in the eye, sensory disturbances in the form of tingling in the lower legs in particular, and motor symptoms in the form of a feeling of loss of control in the left leg and difficulty in walking. She is very tired. She has stopped working. She often sleeps in the afternoon and is empty in the evening. She has become slower and slower in doing things. The recording of information is slower. Concentrating and expressing herself is difficult. It can be frightening. She also has shocks when she falls asleep, with a feeling that she is falling. She has problems speaking, especially with pronouncing letters where she has to use the tongue, such as a D, T or L. The tongue does not work properly. So there are also cerebellar symptoms.
She comes across as tired and slow to consult. Because of her condition it is not easy to get a lot of information. She is not very talkative. She describes herself as optimistic in nature, calm, and sometimes nervous. As a child she was quite small and looked younger than she really was. She was independent quite early on. She is someone who always wants to go her OWN GANG, her own way. From an early age she wants to find out everything herself, do everything herself, arrange things herself. Another person doesn't have to do that for her.
She experienced that people in the past often had the tendency to say to her: you can't do that yet, or you can't do that anyway. Then she strongly felt the inner urge to do things. She had the inner feeling 'I can do more than you think'. She always wanted to change, to profile herself. To show that she could do it herself, independently, independently. She doesn't want to be CLEANABLE, or in need of help. She wants to do and arrange everything herself.. She always saw things as a challenge. Sewing clothes without a pattern e.g. When she was an old girl she went alone on the bus without fear. But she also went cycling up a street with loose hands, for example. Or climbing a very tall tree. She saw no danger. It made her feel good when she did those things. She was a bit of a WAAGHALS. Playing with hide-and-seek she often climbed on high positions, but then she wouldn't dare to get off. She just didn't think about it, just liked to climb on top of it. She used to always think 'I can do that', without overseeing the consequences. She is someone who loves challenges and unfamiliar things. With food, for example, she wants to try out something she has never had before. She always loved to travel. With the trips she used to make, she liked to travel to unknown areas, e.g. in India. Even now she still likes to have challenges, although her illness has made her a bit more cautious.
She tells us that she loves flea markets and then likes to trade. That always gives her a bit of a KICK.
She likes to have things under control, UNDER CONTROL. She is very PUNCTUAL and PRECISe. She doesn't care much about what other people think of her. She also tells us that as a child she was not allowed to walk with her mother warmed. This made her angry and sad, because she wanted to. Moreover, her mother walked with her girlfriend in her arms. She never understood that.
She doesn't get to talk easily in company, she is usually quite quiet in groups of people, and likes to be alone. She would like to be more spontaneous. She doesn't express herself so easily. In high school she was quite quiet and shy. She was and is of a fail-safe nature. Quickly afraid that she is doing something wrong. If something was asked in class, she didn't dare to say anything, for fear that she would say it wrong. Afraid to blunder. She doesn't like to be in the spotlight. The worst thing she thought was speaking. She has always managed to get away with it. She was very nervous about that. She kept herself as quiet and inconspicuous as possible in the classroom to get out of it. Once she didn't succeed. She found standing in front of a group terrible.
She loves music and opera. She sings in an opera company with which she regularly performs, which she likes very much. She can't stand the heat.

Remedy: Gelsemium.
