Gadolinium oxydatum

10.5 Gadolinium oxydatum
Width 7, Depth 6, Cure 9, Duration 7

A man of 80 has arthritis. The arthritis is mostly in his hands but also in his shoulders and feet, which makes walking difficult. It started on the right side. His finger joints are deformed, and the backs of his hands are swollen. The pains are strange, suddenly shooting. He can pick up a cup normally and suddenly just drops it. The complaints are worse from change of weather, wind, damp and cold. The anti-inflammatory drugs cause digestive upsets, so he needs to find a balance between pain relief and digestive problems.
The arthritis started after retiring from work. He was a marketing manager and traveled a lot. He likes contact with people. He never wanted his own company, saying “I’d rather be a big helper than a small boss”. He doesn't like to take risks. He’s a natural leader with a desire for honor. He was invited on to the management of the residents association. Officially he’s the secretary but the president wants him to play the part of the president.
His wife has many complaints: she’s a nervous person and doesn't want to go out. He’s the opposite: he likes socializing and travelling. He stays at home for her but he feels limited. He had a good time in Indonesia after the war but he went back to Holland because his wife couldn't stand Indonesia.
He likes music very much and can play the organ and piano very well. He even played for the radio a few times and he has no stage fright. He can’t play anymore because of his arthritis.
He’s very neat. He’s very friendly, like a gentleman. He can’t stand disharmony and imbalance. Everything has to be in balance even when it isn't. He can’t stand people who queue jump in traffic. He has an aversion to loud voices and noises.
His prostate is enlarged; he has to urinate 2 to 3 times a night. He’s a bit color-blind and can’t see the difference well between purple and blue, between red and yellow.
During the Second World War he had diphtheria and nearly died. In his childhood he frequently had otitis with very severe pain and he would faint when someone touched his ear.
Fear: spiders, crawling insects.
Dream: he has to travel, but he can’t get everything into his suitcase.
Weather: chilly.
Time: << 8-10 am.
Desires: fish, meat.
Aversion: vegetables.
Food: with onions and fat he gets stomach problems.

Analysis
After the proving of Gadolinium I prescribed it for him, thinking Gadolinium was the main remedy from the Lanthanides for arthritis. It was only later I discovered that all the Lanthanides can have arthritis. So I prescribed the correct remedy for the wrong reasons. In hindsight it’s easy to see the Lanthanides themes: aversion to being limited, independent thinker, manager but aversion to being the boss, sensitive, color blind, prostate enlarged.
The desire for harmony is typical of Gadolinium. It expresses itself also as a desire for balance in the effects of the painkillers. We can see Stage 10 also in the fact that he has no stage fright at all. Performing is obvious for him.
The second step in the analyzing process was which Gadolinium salt to prescribe. I started with the metal, the only one available then. Beyond that, I hadn't got many differentiating clues then. Later I changed to the carbonicum and then to oxydatum.
Later it became clear that the oxydatums are strongly connected to the handicapped and destructive side of arthritis. It makes people dependent.

Follow up
After Gadolinium metallicum MK he could reduce the drugs for both arthritis and stomach problems. The remedy reduces the pains, they even do not arise. He has lost weight in the last year. He has pain in the piriformis muscle after walking and has to balance how much walking he does. He's more cheerful. In the family he pours oil on troubled waters. If people talk loudly they have an inferiority complex.

Over the next 18 months he got several repetitions of Gadolinium metallicum. Because he didn't improve further after that time Gadolinium carbonicum was prescribed. After Gadolinium carbonicum MK the amelioration continues in the same direction

In the course of 1,5 year he got several repetitions of Gadolinium carbonicum. Then he didn't improve further, so Gadolinium oxydatum was prescribed. After Gadolinium oxydatum MK the amelioration is even better. He feels 90% healed

Other remedies that had been prescribed in vain were Benzenum nitricum and Aurum sulphuricum.
