Botany: young plant grows a number of ruffled green leaves radially outward flat against the ground from a knobby central stem; stem ± 50 cm; leaves with long, hairy petioles; flowers small; sepals fuzzy, soft spine-tipped; petals 5 lavender to magenta; fruit green with a glandular body about half a centimeter long and a long, pointed style.
