EQUISETYTES
This group provides one family: the Equisetaceae family (ponytail family). One genus (Equisetum) and 15 species.
In homeopathy Equisetaceae is used, this product is potentized from Equisetum hyemale (Planing straw).
Ponytails, ferns and mosses are the oldest plant families on earth.
Millions of years ago the ponytails formed enormous plants, the size of trees. However, the current species are small in stature. They prefer to grow in damp places. You can find them e.g. in valleys in France, preferably in the shade of the trees and close to a flowing river. The ponytail has a segmented -eaten straight stem. Equisetum hyemale contains 70% silicon oxide (compare the composition of Bamboo), the stems were therefore used to polish metal.
Phytotherapy: in China, the stems of Equisetum hyemale are used against cloudy eyes cold fever.
Equisetum arvense is known as horsetail. The stems of this stop bleeding, are used in genital -urinary problems and bedwetting. They also strengthen hair and nails.
Equisetum arvense as a homeopathic remedy:
Given the high concentration of silicic acid, we can expect the drug image to be very similar to Silicea. In the Boericke we mainly read UROGENITAL symptoms. PLASSES in children. Dreams or nightmares during urination. Severe pain at the end of the miracle. Cases can hardly be found in the literature.
The German physician Müller describes in Die Farbe as Mittel zur Simillimumfindung in der Homoöpathie (Band III) an Equisetum case: a 61 year old psychotic woman with an endogenous depression (Fall 14). Müller gave all kinds of drugs with a low result. In the course of the treatment she got a urinary tract infection for which he gave Equisetum. This also greatly improved her state of mind.
The description resembles a manic-depressive image.
Like to laugh, can be cheerful. Travely, loves to buy and cook things, music and dancing.
During the depression:
Apathy, resembles a dementia image. Restless, wailing, fear of water. Fear of being abandoned by her husband. Fear of burglars, convinced that there are thieves in the house.
