Dysoxylum gaudichaudianum
Region: Southeast Asia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, northern Australia, southwest Pacific.
Habitat: primary and secondary forest including swamp forest, bamboo woodlands and forests on limestone; elevations up to 1,800 metres; in gallery forest on river flats
Use: piscicidal; insecticidal; for timber; local medicinal.

Botany
Large, dioecious canopy tree; up to 36 metres tall.
Stem: straight, cylindrical; slightly fluted; up to 80 cm in diameter; buttresses up to 2.5 metres tall; wood has a variable aroma, resembling shallots or beans, Phaseolus vulgaris.
