663.41.10 Dianthus caryophyllus, Case
Woman, 65, eczema.
She has eczema on her feet for 10 years. The medial sides of the soles have cracks, scales, ulcers and discharge fluid and blood. They are red, dry, feel stitching, as from fine needles, as if walking on small stones. The ball of her foot is swollen. It is worse in the evening, better from sun. It is diagnosed as psoriasis and mycosis.
She has had diabetes for 30 years, since her last pregnancy.
She has flushes of heat since menopause, < 3 am.
She has hip pain, < walking.
She has backache, sacral and coccyx, extending to the left calf and foot. Her left foot feels lame, cold and numb, < 2 am.
Family is very important for her. She has a good bond with her parents and siblings. 25 years ago she had her last child, born disfigured and dead due to her diabetes. It was a big shock that she had to cope with for 3 years. Her big worry now is her autistic grandchild. He is backward by 3 years and she fears that he will not get a good job later.
She worked as a maid and likes that very much. She regretted that she had to stop at pension.
She is introvert and keeps grief inside. She looks as if she is coping for others.
Weather: chilly, < too hot, it gives faintness.
Time: < 11 pm.
Desire: sweet !, spicy, meat, fish, chicory.
Aversion: garlic, sour, cabbage.
Sleep: on abdomen; falling asleep is difficult, often till 3 am.
Analysis
A clear remedy is not indicated. Her favourite flower was carnation, hence the prescription Dianthus caryophyllus.
Later the theme of the Caryophyllaceae became clear: worries about family and children.

Follow up
After Dianthus caryophyllus MK she feels much better. After a month the eczema is 50% better, her hip pain is gone, she can sleep well and has less flushes. Her energy is much better.
The problems of her grandson do not affect her so much anymore. She stopped smoking.
