Case 5.16: a boy with sleeping problems

Age 3 years

Complaints:
Waking at night (2.00 a.m.), screaming, upset, besides himself. Sleeps with sister in the same room.
Tantrums, as if in trance.
Throws himself on the floor.
Strikes his sister.

History:
Age 2,5 yrs: bronchtis, rattling with high fever.
Dentition difficult, inconsolable weeping. Diarrhea, excoriating.
Pregnancy: no problems. Agg. coffee and spicy.
Birth: 42,5 weeks. Rapid course. APGAR 9/10.
First year: he slept very much, always his eyes closed, no contact with parents. First 2 years he hardly talked.
Walking at 12 months.

Mind
Tantrums, as if in trance.
Throws himself on the floor.
Strikes his sister.
Sometimes very angry, also very sweet.
Likes to climb and build.
Likes to sing.
Accident prone, always bruises.
Stumbling while walking.
Fears: thunderstorm (2), water on head (2), dark (2).
Lives with parents and sister.

General
Desires: pizza, pancake, macaroni, olives, sweets, chocolate, ice ceam, beets, milk, meat
Aversions: cheese, sprouts, Belgian andivia
Thirst normal.
Stool: normal. No worm complaints.
Sleep: waking at night (2.00 a.m.), screaming, upset, besides himself
Sleep position: back or side. In the past grinding teeth during sleep.
