Cyprinodontiformes
English: Toothcarps.
Synonyms: Microcyprini.
Temporal range: Oligocene–recent.
Habitat: freshwater; extreme environments, saline,very warm waters, heavily polluted waters, rain water pools devoid of minerals, acidic by decaying vegetation, isolated situations; near the surface, oxygen-rich water.
Use: popular aquarium fish, such as killifish and live-bearers.
Zoology
Ray-finned fish; small mouths, large eyes.
Size: mostly small, small to medium-sized.
Food: carnivores, ants, insects, worms, aquatic crustaceans, protozoans, plant material, algae; killifish derive carotenoids and other chemicals and pigments required to make their body pigment.
Fins: single dorsal fin, and a rounded caudal fin.
Size: 8 mm to 34 cm long.

Cyprinodontiformes are closely related to the Atheriniformes and are occasionally included with them.
