655.53.12 Cistus canadensis, Case
Case by Anton Kramer.
Woman, 35, genital herpes.
She has had a wart on right thumb for 13 years. It has spread to some other fingers recently. It is rather flat, a little rough, dry, peeling off somewhat.
Herpes on the genitals every 6-8 weeks, worse menses; may infect the hands. First symptom of the recurrent infection is shivering and slightly raised temperature; lymph nodes in groin. It hurts, especially during sex; stitches or itches a little.
She had trichomonas infection with intense itching and swelling and genital mycosis with thick leucorrhoea and with cystitis.
She had facial paralysis at 25; pressing pain worse wind on the face. Her job was stressful at that moment because many colleagues were ill. Treated with prednisone. Bronchitis and eczema when she was a child. She has rather a busy life; work demands a lot; going out and inviting friends for dinner. Almost every evening is taken; this often is too much for her. She works as a teacher with children with learning disabilities. Very motivated. Alternating between activity, enthusiasm and times that she is very tired and weepy. She likes to paint, dance, do sports. Mirthful when in good company. She is timid, keeps low profile especially when she is somewhere new. She closes up when the atmosphere is not right. “I am like a sponge: I suck negative atmosphere into me”. Sensitive; anger of herself and of others cause problems. When she was in her teens everybody saw her as sweet, nice; this role prohibited her being angry. As a child she might be naughty but obeyed her parents. She was afraid of quarrelling; took her own aggression out in her paintings. Now she can stand up for herself reasonably well; thinks things over first and withdraws much of what she initially feels. “I do not allow myself to feel bad because everything is fine (work, relation, parents). So where does this feeling bad come from?” In her former relationship she withheld anger; wept only after two weeks.
Very little aggression. Talks a lot with parents concerning her life and decisions to make. She does not show grief; she feels very closed, sighs a lot and eats a lot.
Fear: men, violence in the streets; in the dark when outside; burglars !; alone at home; making mistakes !.
She uses much energy with all her thinking.
Desire: much food, bread; fruit !!; cheese !!; honey !.
Aversion: pork!.
Weather: cold; likes cold bright weather, pouring rain, being in the sun.
Menses are at times very irregular and infrequent.
Analysis
Malvales have pains extending inward and emotions that cannot be projected outward.
First remedy Asarum: mild, worse noise, cold, desires fruit.
Follow up
First remedy Asarum: no real improvement; feels pressure on the eyes, as during Bell’s Palsy.
Next remedies were Sulphuricum acidum, Phosphoricum acidum, Pulsatilla, all once only and had no effect.
Then Cistus: Herpes aggravates a few times and then is better. Energy improved; work much easier, relaxed, feels no stress anymore. No diseases anymore. Stopped smoking. After the next dose the warts disappear (first they itched and stitched). She feels stronger, less dependent towards the head of the school. Her parents are very enthusiastic about her changes. Menses much improved, regular now.
