Her father was very strict, domineering and everything happened as he wished. He was diseased and needed the care of her mother. The atmosphere at home was safe but everyone was very silent because discussions were not possible. Her father was orthodox religious and the children had to go to church. Only her eldest brother dared to refuse to go. She was not very much stimulated to do new things. She studied music but no one showed any interest in that.
