The popular name of Coccinella septempunctata is ladybird. Ladybirds belong to the most beloved insects – because they are symbol of good and happiness. It is unusual, because people have different relationship to other insects. In European tradition ladybird is connected to the Holy Mother. The red color represents the red cloak of Virgin Mary and the seven black dots are signs of the 7 joys and seven sorrows. Coccinella septempunctata is well-known and widely spread insect, living on vegetables in gardens and fields. Its head and thorax are black, flat, under body and feet are black, wing-shells are arched, oval, red or orange-yellow, with black dots, usually seven in number, of unequal size, wings nearly as long as body. When touched by hand comes thickset yellow juice from joints of feet.
