4.2 Cerium metallicum case

A girl of 5 years of age has behavior problems. She wants to be treated as an adult and wants to be seen as a grown up, a mature person. She screams if her mother chooses her clothing or cuts the bread the wrong way. She likes to dress up as a princess or dancer. She can’t stand being hugged unless there is some major grief. She feels frustrated when she can’t do the same as older children. From birth she was wide-awake, always wanted to be grown up and do everything. She’s very responsible. If she is told off, she screams and behaves as if she’s been killed. She can be bossy, but is timid in the consulting room.
She has a marked fear of new things. Before Christmas she vomits because she is full of tension. Her swimming teacher is too wild for her; she looks up to him, but is frightened he will do something too scary. On her birthday her mother has to tell her that her presents are nice before she will open them. She’s unsure and watches for a long time before she does anything. At school she’s a bit timid, on the lookout. If other children once like her dress, she wants to wear it for 3 days.
She’s very sensitive to others, sympathetic and weeps if someone cries. If kids quarrel, she stands on the side and watches. She’s very sweet and caring. She knows what others do, feel and say. When her mother was pregnant again, she says to her mother “you don’t have to lift me up because of your tummy”. When her parents quarrel she notices it all. When her mother rags her father, she protects him.
She is very wise and serious. She asks questions about life, as if she is already grown up. She’s very alert and has big eyes. She hears what her parents and others say and sees what they do. Her development is rapid, psychologically and physically. When she started talking, she immediately talked like a grown-up. She invented her own script. She draws very well. She’s frustrated when she can’t do something and starts screaming and pushes herself to succeed. She memorizes very well, even small details. She remembers for instance a meal her mother made when she was 1 year old. She’s very creative, always wanting to make something special out of normal things. For instance, she dances around when she is walking, jumping from side to side. She talks a lot, so much that she gasps for air. She’s very busy but not hyperactive. She hardly ever sits doing nothing.
School is tough for her. She bites her nails if she is anxious.
Her mother works with alternative therapies.
Dream: Wolf eats a duck and a boy saves the duck from the wolf (Red Riding Hood).
Dream: wolves eating her. She has fear of wolves.
Pregnancy was good. Labor was difficult. As a baby she had constipation and bleeding at stool due to anal fissure.
Weather: cold feet.
Perspiration: sweaty feet, offensive but not rotting the socks.
Desire: bread, soy milk, pasta, sweets.
Aversion: warm food, olives, alcohol, coffee.
Sleep: immediately falling asleep; wakes immediately when she’s called. Can sleep for an hour in the afternoon.
Analysis
A big theme is the aversion to being dictated to. She wants to be in charge herself. This indicates the Lanthanides. This is confirmed by her precocity and sensitivity.
Her fear of new things is an indication for Cerium, Stage 4. The peculiar behavior of mastering things in an internal way is also indicative. Her timidity fits also.
DD Silicea: the timidity, offensive foot sweat and dressing like a princess reminds one of Silicea. But the theme of autonomy and precocity are more indicative of the Lanthanides. Silicea MK had no effect at all.
DD Silver series: princess, creativity, drawing are indications for the Silver series. But the theme of being her own boss doesn't fit that.
Follow up
After Cerium MK she's doing much better. Her fears reduced and she learned to swim pretty soon. She came to rest and feels better in her body. She can express now what bothers her and what she wants. Her homesickness has diminished for the most part. She is more like a child.
She was given about 6 repetitions of the remedy and her timidity went. She was doing fine in all aspects. She also had a dream about the wolves; but this time hunters came and rescued her.
After 2 years her fear of new things came back a little. A repetition of Cerium cleared it. Another 2 years later she’s still doing well. Her quality of life rose from 20 to 80. Her complaints have disappeared for 65%.
