Carica. In the treatment of conjunctivitis I would like to introduce one indigenous drug Carica papaya. The proving of this drug conducted by CCRH has established its use in conjunctivitis in addition to the findings on liver disorders, hepatitis, etc. The speci
indications in conjunctivitis for this drug are 1) < from change of weather, from cold to summer in north India, i. e., in March, 2) agglutination < morning and 3) discharge thick white. So apart from the usual drugs like Argentum nitricum, Euphrasia and
Belladonna, you can consider this as an addition to the therapeutics of conjunctivitis.
Jaundice. Carica Papaya: Jaundice is very difficult for the allopathic doctors if associated with Hepatitis B virus, but we found this Carica Papaya extremely useful, particularly those cases which come to us after taking allopathic drugs; they complain that the appetite has not returned. It is useful in early stages when jaundice has not much developed; lethargic; loss of appetite; milk disagrees, vomiting after eating, pain right hypochondrium < after eating; stool white and offensive, dry, hard like sheep dung. Physiological action. This agent is a non - toxic vegetable digestive. While its action is gre≤atest in a fluid of an alkaline reaction, yet it acts also in an acid or neutral medium. It emulsifies fats, paptonizes albuminoids and changes starches into maltose. It prevents fermentation and stimulates the digestive ferments of the intestines.
Therapeutics. This remedy is indicated in gastrodynia and enteralgia following the meal and during the active period of digestion; in atonic dyspepsia, and chlorhydria. It is also useful in gastric catarh, when it assists in the removal of the discharge byits direct action upon the mucous surfaces.
It is of service in the gastric derangements of pregnancy and in dilatation and cancer of the stomach. Compare. Pepsin, Pancreatin.
