Ballota nigra

16. Ballota nigra

Names : Ballota nigra
Abbreviation : Ball-n.
English : Black horehound, horehound
German :
Dutch : stinknetel/stinkende ballot
Sources :
Stage : 16

Ballo is the Greek for rejection or throwing away

The idea for the stage comes from the odor of the plant. Most Lamiaceae smell very nicely with their aromatic hydrocarbons, and are used in perfumes, liqueurs and aroma therapy. But Ballota has an offensive smell. Offensiveness is a characteristic of stage 16 and is one of the reasons why people from stage 16 are repudiated and barely tolerated (not totally expelled as in stage 17). The name ‘Ballo’ also stands for rejection.
