An Aulacomnium remedy or a marsh moss
Case by Cristina Ari
An eight-year-old girl suffered from a social anxiety disorder. Towards the end of the second school year, when she gradually began to refuse to attend school, her mother decided to come and see me. Since pre-school age, a tendency to sudden shyness in public was already noticeable. Although she repeatedly expressed a desire to take swimming or dancing lessons, she regularly refused to take them when the time came. Although she seemed to be enthusiastic on her way to the venue, her mood suddenly changed in the presence of other children and benevolent caregivers. She clung to her mother, frightened and crying, and for no apparent reason did not want to participate. No one could have persuaded her or persuaded her at that moment, it seemed as if nothing would reach her anymore, that's how desperate the little girl was.
In the family sphere there had been no sign of this uncertainty. Since she was two years old, she lived in a patchwork family with her mother, stepfather and a younger half-brother, but also spent a lot of time with her father and another younger half-brother. The siblings were initially a challenge for her, but over time a certain social competence developed, combined with the awareness of being superior to her as an older sister. Most of all, however, she appreciated the weekends, all alone with her maternal grandparents.
Her winning nature made her popular with everyone and she was basically a very bright and enthusiastic girl with a good sense of humour. She learned easily, but not perseveringly, as she did not want to dwell on one thing for long, except reading books. Physically, she was tall and slim and had long, golden-blond hair. She immediately gave me a typical phosphorous impression.
Medical history: Shortly after the separation of her parents, the then two-year-old had an accident in which she fell unnoticed into a pond and almost died. Her body was already floating lifelessly on the surface of the water when she was discovered by her father. The attempts at resuscitation lasted for more than an hour and miraculously her heart started beating again. The low temperatures at the end of March favoured the recovery process and after five days in the artificial deep sheep she was awakened and soon after, against all expectations, left the intensive care unit without obvious impairment of all vital functions. In the following years there were no further physical or psychological abnormalities in relation to the accident. Only febrile infections of the upper airways and otitis media occurred repeatedly, which were treated exclusively with homeopathic medicine.
Analysis
The social anxiety disorder appeared exclusively in the public and social sphere. Within the family, the girl led a completely normal and inconspicuous life, where she could live out her talents unhindered. This fact led me on my research into the unknown land of mosses, which had only revealed itself to me a few weeks earlier, namely at Jan Scholten ́s Seminar in Utrecht. Trauma in early childhood as a cause for moss remedies, where man is not yet sufficiently rooted. I knew that this girl would need a moss remedy, but which one? Now I was really stumped, as there are hardly any comprehensible experiences and tests regarding Moose. From Utrecht I had brought with me a package of more than thirty vials of various mosses which were completely unknown to me, but I did not know how to distinguish between them in their therapeutic effects. Consequently, I had no choice but to let the child decide for itself. Quite spontaneously she chose an Aulacomnium medicine. Martin Jakob describes this sensitivities in a hopeless situation during the sensory test he carried out and they touched me deeply. Among other things, he refers to a picture: A submarine sinking; a miner trapped after a mining accident, and the oxygen is running out; buried under an avalanche no way out! - Unbelievably, these pictures are completely consistent with the traumatic experience of my little patients drowning. I gratefully accept the prescription of this medicine.
Prescription: an Aulacomnium remedy C30 on two days
Follow up: After the second intake the girl had an impressive dream in which she rode wildly on a horse and felt quite comfortable afterwards! Thereupon I recommended her curative vaulting. A few weeks later her mother told me about a gradual success. During the first two consultations she only wanted to stroke the pony and only slowly conquered its back, before the confidence in her was awakened to ride a full-grown horse in a circle freehand. She was now already looking forward to starting school in autumn. Soon after that she found a best friend with whom she attended dance and climbing courses and one year later she was able to participate in a holiday camp without any problems. At the beginning of June 2020, she was again traumatized when she fell from a tree while playing and suffered a complicated humerus fracture near her shoulder, which had to be surgically repaired under general anaesthesia. In addition, social anxiety in the form of excessive shyness has again emerged. When she meets a school friend in the supermarket, she spontaneously hides behind her mother to avoid being seen by her. With a single dose of the Aulacomnium remedy C20, this conspicuous behaviour immediately returns and she has felt stable ever since.
Classification according to Jan Scholten: 3-333.35.14 The early childhood traumatization followed by a social phobia outside the family area points to a moss remedy. Phase 3 refers to the insecurity of the girl who would like to participate in an event, tries repeatedly, but loses courage at the decisive moment and makes a retreat. Subphase 5 is caused by increased pressure, triggered by a rather stressful family constellation, which she feels unable to cope with and which is also reflected in her phosphoric nature. Stage 14 is quite evident when she freezes in her fears and becomes unreachable for her surroundings, because she finds herself in a hopeless situation.
