Arctostaphylos uva-ursi
Cases show that uva ursi is much more than just a local remedy for bladder problems. Again, it appears that the small size of a drug depends more on our knowledge than on the drug itself. Below is a summary of the symptoms that I think belong to uva ursi. I hope that others will be able to complete and specify this picture.
Essence
Central is the great concern for the health of the children or husband. They are usually women. There is a feeling of powerlessness to do something about it. They continue to look for possibilities for healing, often 'if necessary' an alternative. The worries and fears are usually limited to their own family and relatives, in contrast to phosphorus, which can become worried about everyone.
There is often a fear that the disease will also cause arguments in the family, that the burden of the disease will cause the others in the family to become too much. There is also concern about this.
They are sacrificing, ask little for themselves and need little, they live as it were for the family, the family. It is often women who come with their husbands and children and talk about it with great concern. Their own complaints are not so important, first the other has to be helped. They are discarding themselves. This is in contrast to dulcamara who is much more dominant and prominent.
She is very grateful as a patient, although they don't come often, because the other person needs it more. They are soft and have a soft voice. They are very little angry and prefer to keep the good peace in the house.
They love conviviality and homeliness, talk a lot and like to. Talking about their worries improves the complaints.
They often like plants, gardening.
In general, they are chilly with an exacerbation in cold and humid weather. Sometimes even hot stuffy weather can aggravate their symptoms.
Body
Headache < morning when waking up.
Rheumatic complaints especially in the small joints of the hands occurred in several patients.
Recurring bladder infections with fires before and during, but especially after urination. In some of my patios the frequent urination did not occur during the bladder infections. Clarke mentions that the bladder pain improved with lying on the back. He also mentions as typical a shooting pain from one hip to the other.
